💫 the final graded meet took place in Morton Stadium on Wednesday. Congratulations to Donal, Richie, Emma and Elaine for their strong performances in the 1500m races.

💫 Congratulations to Martin Doyle and Eileen Rowland, who took part in the Leinster 10 mile race in Raheny on Sunday.

💫finally congratulations to Ian Comerford who took part in the Feile Phobail 10k in Belfast on Sunday.

Our Club Summer Relays were the perfect way to spend a Friday evening! ☀️ Racing, laughs and plenty of craic.

✨Well done to all Donal Brennan, Liam Slevin, Richie Lacey and Timothy Morahan who took part in the graded meet on Wednesday evening.

✨Big congratulations to Aoife Carroll who was First Lady at the night of 5k pbs in Arklow on Saturday

✨On Sunday a large contingent of Sportsworld runners took park in the National 10 mile held in Phoenix Park. Special congratulations to our over 50 women’s team who took home national bronze. Karol Cronin was our first male home and took bronze in his age category. Meghan Wall was our first female.

⭐ On Wednesday, 1st July, Eoin O'Brien, Stephan de Vries, Sinéad Staunton and Deirdre O'Connell tackled the IMRA Sorrell Hill Race, taking on the challenging 10km mountain course with over 600m of climbing!

⭐ On Saturday, 4th July, Sportsworld members were in action at two half marathons. Owen Grogan, Neil Collins and Sandra Telford ran the scenic Clontarf Half Marathon, while Andrew Murphy completed the hilly Achill Half Marathon.

⭐ On Thursday, 9th July, over 60 Sportsworld runners lined up for the Docklands 5K. Dylan Keegan led the club home in 16:36. Lisa Madden was 3rd female in 16:51, helping the ladies' team to 3rd place alongside Megan Walls and Deirdre O'Connell.

Special congratulations to Owen Grogan on breaking the 17-minute barrier for the first time, and to Deirdre O'Connell (1st F45), Eileen Rowland (1st F60) and Trevor Sweeney (1st M50).

⭐ On Sunday, 12th July, Sportsworld runners were back in action at the Irish Life Fingal 10K. Congratulations to Dan Clemo on an Irish PB of 34:59 and to Noreen Brouder, who finished 1st in the F45 category. 💫

As charity partner for this year’s Terenure 5 Mile Race the club was delighted to present a cheque for €5,000 to JigsawYMH

⭐ Wednesday saw the inaugural BHAA Marsh 5K, organised by our own David Hannafin. Congratulations to David on a fantastic event, and well done to David Madden, who put in a strong performance over the 5K.

⭐ Friday night's St. Coca's 5K attracted a great Sportsworld turnout. Despite the hot and humid conditions, plenty of members still managed to clock PBs.
Niall Magennis, pictured in action above, led the club home in a superb 16:58 PB, breaking the 17-min barrier for the first time.
Congratulations also to our ladies' team of Lisa Madden (17:11), Lorna Sheehan (17:52), Emma Meade (21:16) and Gemma Ryan (21:49), who finished 3rd overall.

⭐ Congratulations to Jean Fitz Lehane, who was first female at Ardgillan parkrun on Saturday morning. A brilliant performance on a tough course.

⚡️Congratulations to Alan, Donal and Timothy who brought home bags of medals from the Special Olympics Irish Summer Games. On Saturday, Donal took gold in the 1500m, while Timothy won silver. On Sunday, Alan took bronze in the 5000m, while Donal did the double for the weekend taking gold.

⚡️Big congratulations to Karol Cronin who took second in his age category at the Dunshaughlin 10k in a fantastic time of 33.12. Deirdre O’Connell was our first female home. Also competing were Pádraig, Paul, Martin and Andrew. Well done all.

⚡️At the National 5 mile, club newcomer Liam Slevin led the club home in 29.02 and Katie Nugent was our first female home. Well done to all club members who competed in very warm conditions.

⚡️Well done to Owen Grogan who finished 4th in a the Glenmore Running Festival Half Marathon and to Irene who completed the marathon on a very hilly course.

⚡️At the DSD Graded Meet, Elaine Kennedy, Donal Brennan and Richie Lacey put in strong performances in the 800m, while Lorna Sheehan ran an impressive 3k.

⚡️Well done to Andrew Murphy who represented the club at the Castleknock 5k.

It was another busy week for Sportsworld athletes, with members racing on the roads and track both at home and abroad.

On Sunday, Olive and Stephanie took on the Portumna Half Marathon, while Anne Marie, Maria Varley and Ann Belton represented the club at the Irish Grocers 4 Mile.

Also on Sunday, Anthony Gillen represented the club overseas at the Schofield 5K Road Race in Wellesley, Massachusetts.

At the graded meet in Santry on Wednesday, Lorna Sheehan and Liam Slevin both impressed, finishing 1st in their respective heats in the 800m and 5000m. Elaine Kennedy, Richy, Timmy Morahan, Donal Brennan and Niamh Flaherty Pimentel also represented the club over 800m.

Weekly Roundup

The June Bank Holiday is always a busy one on the racing calendar.

The Women’s Mini Marathon took place on Sunday. 30,000 women took to the streets of Dublin for the annual 10k, amongst them was a strong Sportsworld contingent. Lisa Madden was first home, chipping two seconds off her own 10k record clocking 35.25, finishing 9th overall.

Karl Chatterton was first home for the club at the Cork Half Marathon, while Kimberly Kennedy raced the 10k.

In Hilly Tullaroan, Irene O’Connor raced the Half Marathon on a very challenging course.
