Under 17s Boys League Match Result

Mourne Celtic 0 - 3 Belgrave

Mourne Celtic started the game brightly and controlled the early stages, but it wasn’t long before the momentum began to shift. Mourne faded as the half progressed, allowing Belgrave to take control of the game and they opened the scoring midway through the first half.

After the break, we made a few changes and moved some players around in an attempt to get back into the game, but unfortunately we couldn’t find a way back. Belgrave added two more goals in the second half to make it 3-0.

It was a frustrating afternoon for Mourne, with our only shot on target coming from Anthony Howell.

It’s a hard one to take, but there’s no point dwelling on it. We’ll learn from what went wrong, work on it during the week and look to put things right next weekend. 💪⚽

⚽ THIS SUNDAY – U17 BOYS HOME FIXTURE! ⚽

Our U15 Girls are idle again this Sunday, but our U17 Boys are back in league action as we welcome Belgrave AFC to Brickfield Park. 💚⚽

The lads have made a strong start to the season and will be looking to continue that form with another strong performance and hopefully pick up the three points on home soil. 💪

This morning our U17s boys travelled to Portmarknock, after starting the better team we were awarded a penalty inside the first 5 mins, which our captain Anto initially missed but tucked away the rebound. After starting the better team we surrendered our lead and found ourselves 3-2 at the break.

We regrouped and after making two changes shortly after the break, we started to come back into the game, within 5 mins of the changes we had got the game back to 3-3 through Somtochukwu, this gave the lads a massive lift. And we went on the score a 4th when the ball was whipped in from corner and Bart met it with a flick at the front post. We dominated the hole of the second half and got the fruit of labour and hard work when the ball broke to Shayne on the edge of the back and lobbed the keeper from 20/25 yards out.

Final result 5-3

Few contenders for man of the match, but the game changed when Bart came on so.

⚽ MATCHDAY TOMORROW – U17 BOYS! ⚽

Our U15 Girls are idle tomorrow, but our U17 Boys are back in league action as they head away to face Portmarnock AFC. 💚⚽

The lads got their league campaign underway last Sunday with a 2–2 draw at home to Tolka Rovers AFC, and they'll be looking to go one better tomorrow and come away with all three points. 💪
