The past weekend saw Stephen Mahon take home the Junior St Anne’s Scratch Cup! 🏆⛳️

A brilliant achievement and another well-deserved success for Stephen being so new to the game! Both Stephen and Eoghan O’Leary were successful in the gents grade scramble also!

A great weekend for our members at the Lakewood Open Week! 🏌️⛳️

Firstly, well done to everyone at Lakewood Pitch & Putt Club. The course was in fantastic condition all week, with excellent greens and was a credit to all the work that goes on behind the scenes. Thanks also for the warm welcome and hospitality shown throughout the week.

Congratulations to Mary Reilly and Pat O’Connor on picking up another Ladies’ Scramble prize.

Ciaran White, Paul Boreham and Stephen Mahon were also among the prizes in the Nett and Gross competitions.

In the Scratch Cup, new member Stephen Mahon finished runner-up in the Junior Scratch Cup after a brilliant final 18 holes, shooting -3 to secure his first Scratch Cup prize. A fantastic achievement for someone still so new to the game.

Ciaran White also finished runner-up in the Intermediate Grade after a great battle with Dave Connolly of Crosshaven, who just came out on top. Also well done to Ian McCarthy on making the final 18 in the Intermediate grade!

Well done to all our prize winners on a great weekend’s golf, and thanks again to everyone in Lakewood for running another excellent Open Week.

⛳🏆 Congratulations to John O’Mahony on winning the ESB Junior Scratch Cup!

John shot a superb -2 in his final 18 to finish level par overall and claim the title by a single shot in glorious sunny conditions.

John’s game has gone from strength to strength over the past year, and this Scratch Cup victory is a fitting reward for all the hard work and dedication he has put in.

Well done also to Colm O’Donnell and Stephen Conlon on reaching the final 18s in the Intermediate grade.

A special thank you to everyone at ESB for their warm hospitality and for presenting the course in excellent condition.

We began this evening with our Club Matchplay Finals, where Len Downey successfully defended his title, securing back-to-back championships after a hard-fought battle with Ian McCarthy.

In the Plate Final, Stephen Conlon completed a superb double with a close victory over John Hurley.

The presentation of the President’s Prize, kindly supported by our President, Kevin Ryan, took place alongside the Matchplay awards. The results were as follows:

🚨 Important Notice to Members and Visitors 🚨

I would like to ask all members to remain vigilant when green fee players are on the course.

Last week, Ian McCarthy took time out of his practice round to repair a number of wedge marks and divots on the greens, including four on the front nine that appeared to have been left unrepaired. Eddie Delaney also spent time repairing pitch marks across the course.

It is extremely disappointing to see this happen, especially when Sean and his team work tirelessly to maintain the course in excellent condition for the benefit of all members and visitors.

As a reminder, please take a few seconds to repair your pitch marks, replace divots where appropriate, and treat the course with respect. These small actions make a significant difference to the quality and enjoyment of the course for everyone.

If any member witnesses deliberate damage to the greens or behaviour that shows a lack of respect for the course, please report it to a member of the committee immediately.

A sincere thank you to Ian and Eddie for taking the time to carry out these repairs, and thank you to all members who continue to take pride in our club and help maintain the high standards we all enjoy.

Please note that any person found deliberately causing damage to the course may face an immediate and permanent ban from the club. Where appropriate, incidents may also be reported to An Garda Síochána as criminal damage.

Please note, the club matchplay is ongoing and starts at 18:00pm, course will be closed after 18:00pm until Thursday.

Great start to the Cork Strokeplay weekend for Bishopstown, with Alan O’Mahony coming out on top in the Junior Grade today! ⛳️

Alan capped off a brilliant display of pitch and putt with a fantastic final score of -11. Alan Abraham of Fermoy was hot on his heels in the final 18, producing another excellent performance throughout the day to finish runner-up on -7.

Congratulations to our own Alan on a well-deserved victory. Both players showcased a fantastic standard of pitch and putt throughout the competition.

To top off a successful day, the Bishopstown Junior Team also claimed the team title with a combined score of -2.

Paul Boreham finished on -1, Tim O’Connor added +7, and Alan O’Mahony contributed an outstanding -8 to secure the win. Congratulations to the lads on a superb team performance! ⛳️

A special mention also to Lesley Gilmore and Angela Royer, who represented Bishopstown in Collins today and put in excellent efforts in the Junior Grade. 🏌️

A huge thank you to the host clubs, Fermoy and Collins, for presenting their courses in outstanding condition. Both courses were absolutely immaculate and couldn’t have been any better, providing a fantastic test and an enjoyable experience for all competitors throughout the day. 👏⛳️
