⛵️ Congratulations to club member Jonathan O’Shaughnessy and who crewed on the winning boat in the 8 metre class in the HSS 133 Years Champagne Regatta – Baltic Classic Masters in Helsinki Yacht Club recently.

The Royal Cork YC has shared a longstanding connection with the Finnish club, which has allowed Jonathan, who moved to Helsinki in May, compete in such a prestigious event.

Congratulations Jonathan and looking forward to welcoming you back to the Royal Cork YC soon!

On the Water with the U25 Academy ⛵️

The U25 Academy has been busy on the water over the past few weeks, with the team getting some great racing and training under their belts. Here are a few highlights from the recent Cobh Regatta, along with some of the training sessions with club member Mark Mansfield.

A huge thank you to Mark for giving his time, knowledge and expertise to the group as the team continues to prepare for the upcoming Nationals at Foynes Yacht Club.

Great to see the next generation of RCYC sailors getting plenty of time on the water and making the most of every opportunity! ⛵️💪

If you’re a club member aged 16–25 and would like to get involved with the U25 Keelboat Academy, please don’t hesitate to get in touch at [email protected].

🏆Congratulations to Jack Young, who over the past week has been slowly putting his mark on the 2026 YWDB national title.

Thirty-Six boats contested the championship at Poole Yacht Club in the UK sailing under amazing Caribbean-like conditions.

Representing the Royal Cork YC With a scoreline of 1,1,3,2,1,1 Jack crewed by his father Nigel took the title by a five-point margin for the second time. Jack also won the Nationals back in 2023 sailing with his regular crew of Ellie Aneiros.

Talking with Jack after the regatta he was delighted with the win, "It's always special to win a National Championship especially when it's in a boat built by your Grandad".

Another nice touch is that the North Sails were developed & supplied by Jacks father Nigel so it's really a full family set up!

Jack will be heading back to Brixham in 2027 to try and defend the title.

Congratulations from all of us here at the RCYC, there is nothing more we like than our members bringing home the Silverware from overseas!
