YOUR VOICE CARRIES WEIGHT. 🟠⚫️

In coaching, what you say matters.

Your tone.
Your language.
Your encouragement.
Your reaction to mistakes.

Players hear more than we sometimes realise.

Use your voice to teach, encourage, motivate and build confidence — not to embarrass or discourage.

Choose your words.
Choose respect.
Choose to make your voice a positive influence.

EVERYONE’S VOICE MATTERS. 🟠⚫️

And everyone is responsible for the words they choose.

In our games.
At training.
On the sideline.
In the clubhouse.
Online.
In our communities.

Coaches. Players. Parents. Supporters. Everyone.

Our words can encourage or discourage.
Build confidence or knock it down.
Bring people together or divide them.
Create positivity or negativity.

It’s not just about what we say — it’s how and when we say it.

Let’s use our voices to create an environment where every player feels welcome, valued, respected and encouraged to learn.

Think before you speak.
Choose respect.
Choose encouragement.
Be the reason someone walks away feeling better, not worse.

🧡 Our club. Our community. Our responsibility.

COACH ALL PLAYERS. 🧡⚫️

Not just the strongest.
Not just the most confident.
ALL players.

Give clear instruction.
Give them opportunities to succeed.
Give them encouragement when they struggle.
Give them the confidence to try again.

As coaches, we want ALL of our players to experience success — whatever their current ability.

Every player should leave training feeling:

“I learned something.”
“I improved.”
“I can do this.”

Don't send a player home from training feeling deflated.

Build them up. Coach them. Believe in them. 🧡

🏐 BE CAREFUL WITH THE BALL…

Good decision-making starts before the ball arrives.

🟠 RECEIVE – secure the ball
⚫ SPACE – find your space
🟠 LOOK – scan and assess your options
⚫ DELIVER – make the best pass/kick

Receive. Space. Look. Deliver.

Simple process. Better decisions. More effective play. 🧠🏐

DECISION MAKING & REACTION ARE SKILLS TOO. 🧠⚡

We often focus on the technical skills — the pass, kick, strike, catch or solo.

But what happens before the skill?

👀 Can the player scan?
🧠 Can they recognise the situation?
⚡ Can they react quickly?
🎯 Can they choose the right option under pressure?

In a real game, players rarely have time to stop and think. They need to see, decide and act.

That's why our coaching should create situations where players are encouraged to make decisions, react to changing environments and solve problems for themselves.

Don't just coach the skill. Coach the decision.

GAME-BASED TRAINING: THINK. REACT. DECIDE. 🧠⚡

How often in a real game do players get to run in a straight, unobstructed line with plenty of time and space?

Rarely.

Games are unpredictable. Players are constantly dealing with opponents, teammates, limited space, pressure and changing situations.

That's why decision-making needs to be a huge part of our training.

Using “chaos” type activities creates realistic problems for players to solve. They have to scan, react, communicate, adapt and choose the best option — rather than simply follow a predetermined movement.

The aim isn't to create chaos for the sake of it.

It's about creating game-like environments where players have to think and make good decisions.

Don't just train the skill.
Train the player to recognise when, where and how to use it. 🟠⚫️

COACHING IS MORE THAN SETTING UP THE DRILL. 🟠⚫️

Clear instruction matters.

When delivering the ball, make sure players know where, when and how you want it delivered. Keep instructions simple and clear so players can focus on the activity.

Then encourage speed and reaction.

⚡ Move quickly
👀 React to what you see
🧠 Make decisions
🗣️ Communicate

And most importantly — let your players hear you.

Your voice should be part of the session. Encourage effort, praise good decisions, motivate players to react and keep the energy high.

Don't just stand back and watch. Coach. Communicate. Encourage. Motivate.

The players should feel your energy throughout the entire session.
