Coolaney United began their Sligo Pallets Premier League campaign with a trip to Mc Sharry Park Astro pitch to play Benbulben FC in the first game of the season and it turned out to be a productive day for the Coolaney lads.
Two first half goals from Jack Sommers and the returning Joe Mc Munn saw Coolaney United in a healthy position at half time.
A resurgent Benbulben FC came out firing in the second half and scored 2 quick goals to bring the game level. A red card for Coolaney United made the task harder but the Coolaney lads knuckled down and 2 goals from Enda Gallagher saw the Coolaney lads leave Sligo Town with the 3 points.
Final Score: Benbulben FC 2 - 4 Coolaney United.
Next Sunday Coolaney United welcome Real Tubber FC to Coolaney Community Park for our first home game of the season. Kick off 11am.

Coolaney United would like to thank all who attended our very successful Annual Horse Race Night in the Happy Landing Bar last night. Thank you to all who bought horses and sold horses, Thank you to our Race sponsors, Thank you to those who dug deep into their pockets for our Auction Race, Thank you to the Annette and Conor McCormack and extended family for hosting our event and finally thank you to our MC and bookie on the night Padraig Mc Gourty and Jerry O'Grady.
All those who won a race will be contacted over the next few days and will receive their Prize money.
All funds raised by our Annual Horse Race Night go towards the clubs personal accident and public liability insurance commitments as the new Sligo Leitrim Soccer league season commences next Sunday 20th September.

Coolaney United wrapped up their pre season with an entertaining game vs Ballygawley Celtic in Coolaney Community Park yesterday evening. With players being allowed to sub on and off during the game it gave manager James Ellis a chance to give all players a few minutes of action and see where the players are as we enter the final week of training before our opening game of the season vs Benbulben FC in Mc Sharry Park Astro pitch next Sunday. Kick off 2pm.
