First up the good news on this Sunday evening - word is filtering back from Ballymacorcan of a glorious win for our Under 13 hurlers against Laochra Óg after a most entertaining game of hurling. This puts the lads through to the league final and with no championship in Cork at Under 13, this is their primary competition. Well done to the players and management.
Earlier today our Under 16 footballers bowed out of the 2026 championship losing out to Aghada in the Semi-Final by four points. While the lads will be disappointed to lose, if their team management were told at the start of the year that this squad would qualify from their group in Division 1 in both football and hurling, and get to the championship semi finals, that would have been considered excellent progress for the development of these players. It's not long ago they were plying their trade two grades lower....
There was no shame at all in losing to a very talented Aghada side in the manner they did - we pushed them all the way but hats off to our opponents they found a way when we did ask serious questions halfway through the second half... A cracker of a game of football - well done to both sides. A word of praise too for referee Kevin Walsh who handled the game very well. Best of luck to Aghada in the final.

Fine morning for it... Our Under 16 footballers have been rewarded for topping their group with a home fixture in their championship semi final against Aghada this morning. It would be great to have the support of a big home crowd for this one - throw in is at 11am in Carraig na bhFear GAA. See you there!

Our under 12 finished off their hurling league campaign with a draw at home to St. Catherine's on Thursday night. A strange game where we did very well to come back from 5 points down but also it felt like a victory that was left behind...anyway the lads competed very well in the league overall. Most of the results did not go our way but at no point were we out of our depth.

For now though, an in-depth review of the hurling season needs to be parked as these lads have qualified for the final of the football competition. That final will take place in Glenville next Saturday 26th of September at 13:00 where Glanmire will provide the opposition!

Our Under 12s capped off a great weekend for St Colmcille's by finishing top of their league after completing their campaign with four wins and a defeat!

The weekend started with the under 13s semi-final win over Ballygiblin on Friday night and then it was onwards to play a first ever Premier 1 County Final for our Under 14s yesterday.

OK we didn't win that but there was a huge crowd out to support the team and to acknowledge the huge effort put in by the players/coaches and to recognise the achievement of reaching that final.

All our teams are on a development path and reaching a county final at under 14 is not the end goal but just part of the journey.

The journey continues now for under 12s and 13s who have finals to look forward following these weekend's results! Colmcille's abu!

Comhgairdeachas le a very talented Mallow GAA side - worthy county champions.
Míle buíochas to referee Michael McSweeney and his team of officials. Also to the officers and other volunteers at Rebel Og for the thankless job they do in running off the programme of games - isn't much perks to the job when you see the County Chairperson taking the gate today! Fair play agus míle buíochas one and all. Hosts Grenagh GAA Club had a band of volunteers on hand to oversee parking etc - your new ground is a credit to you - thanks for hosting.
Finally but by no means least - to our own players and the management - the stuff of dreams to be competing in the top tier in Cork... Not alone did ye compete but ye excelled. Not to be today against a fantastic Mallow side but there was absolutely no shame in defeat - left it all out there in the second half.
Thanks again to Pat Ahern and T&A for sponsoring the lads tops for the game today and to our jersey sponsors O'Reillys Blackpool for your continued financial support - giving the lads the opportunity to come together by sponsoring food for them after the game - nice touch agus ár mbuíochas libh.

D-day.... No excuses .... Forget about the weather - root out the waterproofs not seen since June, throw the umbrella in the car and make your way to Grenagh for today's Premier 1 County Final - throw in 1pm. Note it's their new GAA Grounds - just further on the same stretch of road as the old grounds but on the opposite side.
