Paul back at it this time for the Dark Hedges 200.

A lovely Audax with steady ups and downs for the 1st 140km, then the big test for the day Craigah Hill at 340m. Asked about the hill Paul said 'easy'

Paul was part of a nice group of Audax enthusiasts which made it a bit easier, the weather played its part for once a nice 15c in hazy sunshine 🌞 still no 99 in sight 😉

Well done Paul 👏

Innisfree 400 Audax 2026

Paul was on the road again this time in county Sligo and Donegal for a handy 400km spin :)

The first 100km was into a very strong north-easterly wind, Paul was then faced with a lot of the climbing as the road went up the Blue Stack Mountains.

At the end of that with 200km still to go that demon sat on Paul's shoulder, and he was wondering if he would be able to finish, but with Paul's experience he got a second wind or in his words, 'too thick or too stupid to stop and go home' but after a stop in Biddy O' Brien's and a full belly Paul gritted his teeth and cycled into the night, as the end approached the sun rose and Paul had completed the Innisfree 400.

Paul would like to give a massive shoutout to Donegal Bay Cycling Club who were running their sportif and took him in and fed him and looked after him on one of their food stops 10/10 lads.

Carrickmacross Cycling Club's North East Coastal spin took place today Sunday, 12th of April, with 80+ cyclists taking part; there was a very colourful array of jerseys and bikes on display.

The cyclists left Carrickmacross heading towards Port Beach, it was dry, and they had a strong tailwind to assist them it didn't take long for the peloton to split several times. By the time the 90km group reached Port for the food stop, there were a few tired cyclists, but spirits were kept high with the lovely food selection available. They then turned for the spin to Dunleer into a strong headwind and warmed up as they climbed up Dromin Hill before a nice descent into Ardee and a nice flat spin back to the Phoenix Centre.

The 45km group stopped at the Glyde Inn for a well-deserved food stop and then headed towards Ardee and back up the N2 to the Phoenix Centre.

We would like to thank Peter McKeown (WRW) for his kind donation, the Carrickmacross Gardaí, for traffic control in the town, our motorbike marshals Seamus and Paddy, the Phoenix Centre for the use of their facilities, Richard, Johanna, John, Shane who made sure everyone had plenty to eat and drink back in the Phoenix, and Catherina for photos.

Thanks also to Medicore Medical Services and Wilco who did a great job ensuring everyone's safety, Dermot and Donal driving the support van and all our club members who supplied buns, cakes, biscuits, etc., and who marshalled along the routes and helped out in any way.

A special mention must go to our Club Chairman Conor Pentony and his team, who left no stone unturned to ensure this was a very successful event.

And to YOU, the cyclists, without you, this would not be possible. A BIG “Thank You”.

Proceeds will go to Carrickmacross Cancer Society.

Good Club Spin this morning with 10 out on the road, tough headwind for the first half with a nice coffee stop at Cuppa Café in Mullagh, would recommend to all cycling clubs in the area ☕️ 🎂
