Lack of sleep can affect hunger, cravings, energy levels, recovery and how your body handles and stores energy. It also makes it much harder to make good choices the following day when you're exhausted and reaching for something quick to keep you going.

So if you're trying to lose body fat and feel like you're doing everything right, don't just look at what's on your plate. Look at what time you're getting into bed too. Food, training, movement, recovery and sleep all work together. You can't expect one of them to continually compensate for another.

Need help getting all the pieces working together? Call or WhatsApp me on 087 761 0192.

Building muscle isn’t just about lifting heavier weights. What you do between your workouts matters just as much.

A good week should give your muscles enough stimulus to grow, but also enough time to recover. That means getting your strength sessions in, eating enough protein, staying hydrated, keeping some light movement in your week and prioritising sleep.

You also don’t need to be in the gym every day to make progress. Three well-structured strength sessions a week can go a long way when you’re consistent and progressing your training over time.

This is just an example of what a balanced week could look like. Your own plan should always be built around your starting point, goals and ability.

If you want help putting together a training plan that actually suits you, give me a call or WhatsApp on 087 761 0192.

There’s a common misconception that eating a good-quality, high-protein diet will cost you a fortune – but that doesn’t have to be the case. The key is prioritising whole foods over pre-prepared high-protein snacks, drinks and meals, and being flexible with how you hit your macro goals. Here is your shopping list for when you next go to the supermarket:

- 3 bananas
- 1kg chicken
- 500g 5% beef mince
- 2kg white potatoes
- Bag of mixed peppers
- 1 avocado
- Fresh head of broccoli
- 400g 0% Greek yoghurt
- Half loaf of sourdough
- 1kg pasta
- 18 mixed-size eggs
- Jar of smooth peanut butter
- 4-pack of tuna cans
- Jar of black beans
- Dark chocolate bar
- Lightly salted rice cakes

Having a loose meal plan in place before you head to the supermarket, prioritising versatile ingredients and taking advantage of reductions where possible can all make stocking your fridge and cupboards more cost-effective. Give me a shout if you are at a loss of where to start, happy to help! 💪

If you find yourself getting out of breath quickly, struggling to get through a workout or simply feeling like your energy runs out too soon, your stamina is something you can improve.

The key is building it gradually rather than trying to push yourself to exhaustion every session. A combination of steady cardio such as brisk walking, cycling or swimming and regular strength training can help your heart, lungs and muscles become more efficient over time. Increasing the duration or intensity little by little is where you'll start to notice the difference.

What happens outside the gym matters too. Getting enough sleep, eating properly, staying hydrated and allowing your body to recover all play a part in how much energy you have and how well you perform. You'll know you're making progress when everyday things start feeling easier, you can train for longer, complete more reps and recover better between exercises.

If you'd like help improving your fitness and building your stamina at a pace that's right for you, call or WhatsApp me on 087 761 0192.

There’s no single food that’s going to guarantee you live longer, but what you eat consistently over the years can make a real difference to how well you age. When researchers look at the diets of people living in areas known for longevity, there’s a common theme: plenty of whole, minimally processed foods, including beans, vegetables, whole grains, fruit, nuts, healthy fats and moderate amounts of seafood.

It’s not about following a perfect diet or cutting out everything you enjoy. It’s about what makes up the majority of what you eat, most of the time. And remember, nutrition is only one part of healthy ageing. Staying active and maintaining your strength and muscle as you get older matters too.

Eat well, keep moving and keep yourself strong 💪

If you’d like help getting stronger, fitter and healthier at any age, call or WhatsApp me on 087 761 0192.

For weeks, the focus has been on keeping the kids entertained, working around summer schedules, days out, holidays and trying to keep some sort of routine going. Now they're heading back to school, it might finally be time to put a little bit of that focus back on yourself.

That doesn't mean suddenly training five days a week or completely changing your lifestyle. It could simply mean giving yourself two hours a week to get stronger, improve your fitness, clear your head and do something that's purely for you.

I've got daytime Personal Training availability that works particularly well around school hours, whether you're starting from scratch or getting back into training after a long break. The kids are back to their routine. Maybe it's time to start yours.

Call or WhatsApp me on 087 761 0192 to chat about getting started.

Some of the habits people fall into when they're trying to lose weight can actually make staying consistent much more difficult.

5 habits to look out for:
- Not walking enough – your movement outside the gym matters too.
- Being too restrictive with food – cutting everything you enjoy rarely works long term.
- Exercising too much – more isn't always better, especially if you can't recover properly.
- Skipping meals – for some people, this can leave them hungrier and more likely to overeat later.
- Following fad diets – if you can't realistically see yourself eating that way six months from now, it's probably not the answer.

Weight loss doesn't have to take over your life. A sensible calorie deficit, regular movement, strength training and an approach you can actually stick to will get you much further than constantly starting another extreme plan. Glutes are one of the biggest contributors to better posture, improved balance, lower back support and stronger hips and knees. Whether you're lifting weights, running, walking or simply getting through your day, stronger glutes make everyday movement easier.

Save this for later, only takes 20 minutes!

Walking into a busy gym for the first time can be intimidating. The packed weights area/machines, the gym cliques, people filming every workout or taking selfies between sets. It can feel like everyone knows exactly what they're doing... except you. That's one of the reasons I set up my private gym.

When you book a one-to-one session, the gym is yours. No waiting for equipment. No feeling like people are watching you. No pressure to "fit in". Just you, a structured plan and my full attention.

If you'd rather train with someone you know, you can also book a small group session with your partner, family or friends. It's a great way to build confidence together while still getting expert coaching.

I work with people of all ages, fitness levels and abilities. Some are training for an event, others just want to feel healthier, move without pain or have more energy. Everyone starts somewhere, and you're welcome exactly as you are. If a busy gym has been putting you off, maybe it's time to try something different.

Call or WhatsApp me on 087 761 0192 to book your first session.

Strength training isn't just about looking better today, t's about making sure you can keep doing the things you love for years to come. The strongest investment you'll ever make isn't in your appearance, it's in your future health. 💪
