Unfortunately, we missed out on qualifying for the All-Irelands but the team performed well in tough conditions.

A huge thank you to our Category 1 Handicap Juniors (5.4 or lower) – Charlie, Mikey and Dylan – who took part in a golf research study over the summer.

The study investigated the immediate (acute) and lasting (persistent) effects of different warm-up protocols on driver performance in elite junior golfers. Across three testing sessions, the boys completed a series of different warm-up routines before hitting driver shots, with each shot measured using TrackMan launch monitor technology.

The research has provided valuable data on the effects of different warm-up protocols on junior golfers' driver performance. The findings will help improve our understanding of how effective warm-up routines can enhance performance and support injury prevention in elite junior golfers, providing useful insights for players, coaches and the wider golfing community.

A special thank you to Barry Morrissey, PhD Student in the Department of Science and Health at South East Technological University (SETU) and Principal Investigator for the study, for giving our juniors the opportunity to contribute to this important research.

A huge congratulations to Charlie McHugh on his selection to represent Leinster at the 2026 Golf Ireland Underage Interprovincial Championships, which take place at Holywood Golf Club on 30–31 July. It's a fantastic achievement and a well deserved reward for all the hard work and commitment Charlie has put into his golf.

It's a proud moment for Charlie, his family and everyone at Carlow Golf Club. It's brilliant to see Carlow represented at such a high level, and we know everyone at the club will be cheering Charlie and the Leinster team on. Wishing them the very best of luck in Holywood!

👏 Congratulations to Charlie McHugh on an outstanding week representing Carlow Golf Club at two prestigious boys' championships.
Charlie opened the week with a superb round of 74 in the Under 16 Boys' Open Championship at Banbridge, finishing in an excellent 12th place.

He then competed in the Under 18 Connacht Open Boys' Championship in Carrick on Shannon, where rounds of 72 and 70 saw him comfortably make the cut after 36 holes, with only the top 50 players progressing to the final day. Charlie rounded off the championship with another excellent 70 to finish tied for 13th overall, while also finishing as the second highest player in the Under 16 category.

It is fantastic to see Carlow Golf Club represented at such a high level of junior golf. Well done, Charlie – a brilliant achievement and one to be very proud of.
