U13 Tipperary Cup Boys Semi-Final
Shanbally Utd 4–3 Clonmel Town B

A fantastic result for the lads in a tough and entertaining semi-final against Clonmel Town.

Both teams started nervously, but Shanbally soon settled and began finding space out wide.

Noah Dillon opened the scoring after 7 minutes with a superb long-range strike, following a great pass from Sadeu Pathiranage.

We doubled the lead after 15 minutes when Cormac Casey’s shot was spilled by the goalkeeper and eventually turned into the net for an own goal.

Shanbally continued to create chances, with the team finding space on the wings. The thrid goal came about this way, Harry Clarke picking the ball up in the middle and feeding it to Noah Dillon in space, and he beat his man before producing another excellent long-range finish for his second of the game.

Half-time: Shanbally 3–0 Clonmel Town B

With the hill and the wind on their side, Clonmel started the second half strongly and pulled one back shortly after the restart, but Shanbally responded immediately. Cormac Casey made it 4–1, a thoroughly deserved goal after his excellent work leading the line all game, with Sadeu claiming his second assist of the game.

Credit to Clonmel, who never gave up. A penalty made it 4–2 before a free kick brought them back to 4–3 with around 10 minutes remaining.

The closing stages were tense, but the lads battled for every ball and held on for a hard-earned 4–3 victory.

A brilliant effort from the whole team and a fantastic reward for all their hard work this season.

U14 League Championship
St Kevins 1 Shanbally utd 4

We travelled to Littleton for our penultimate game of the season. Our form has been good of late but with a few players missing robbie mcgrath went to centre back, frankie fraser to goals and brian english to right back. We started brightly passing the ball well. At the back brian english and Noah mcloughlin at full backs matched up the wingers well and this allowed shay Stewart to get on alot of ball to stsrt attacks. Aaron Hickey and michael noonan were everywhere and they linked up well with donal ryan who gave the kevins defence a lot of problems, this allowed tomas hennessy and cathal quinkan get on the end of things we both having shots going close. Just before halftime a great cross from cathal was inches from been tapped in by tomas.

Halftime the talk was keep patient keep playing. 2nd half we started strong again and early on a michael noonan corner was headed to net fantastically by captain ethan connolly 1-0. On 50 minutes we hit a 2nd when a great passing move put sadeu in and he made no mistake 2-0. After this we had great chances with michael noonan and sadeu going close. Noah dillon was on the left wing and combining well with noah mcloughlin. Against the run of play a shot from the edge of the box hit the top corner giving frankie no chance 2-1. Our reaction to this was brilliant as almost immediately sadeu finished again brilliantly 3-1. With 15 to go with hit a 4th when some good work from charles Clarke earned us a free kick and michael noonan hit a fantastic drive which was brilliantly saved by the st kevins keeper but noah dillion was quickest to react to finish to the net 4-1. Last 10 minutes our defence of Ethan and Rory Myres were outstanding dealing with any attacks and michael noonan was getting on a lot of ball driving us forward. All our subs also made an important impact Sadeu, charles, Noah, Rory and jayden. Shay Stewart was very unlucky a shot from 25 yards appeared to go over the line but was scooped clear by the kevins keeper, we missed other chances and game finished out 4-1. An all round top performance from this great group of players.

Man of the match a few candidates but the nod goes to the out standing shay Stewart a 'Roy Keane' type display in midfield. Our next match and last one in the league is at home to slievenamon on Saturday September 26th.

A huge thank you to our sponsor Calor Ireland for joining us at training yesterday and presenting the u13 boys team with their fantastic new zip-neck tops in our club colours, complete with the Calor logo. 👏⚽

A special mention and thanks to Carol O’Leary Ring from Calor, who travelled a long way to meet the players and personally present the new tops. The lads were absolutely delighted with them, and it was great to have Carol there to mark the occasion.

A big thank you as well to all the parents who provided food, teas and refreshments and helped make it such an enjoyable morning for everyone.

Clonmel Town B 2 Shanbally utd 1

We headed to clonmel knowing a win could give us an outside chance of league honours. In our last 4 matched we had won 3 playing some grewt passing football. We continued this tonight with our 3 centre midfielders shay Stewart, Aaron Hickey and michael noonan setting the tone with some great passing moves and linking up well with Tomas hennessy and cathal quinlan in the wide areas . Cormac casey was always a threat on the ball and getting behind the clonmel defence. At the back Rory Myres was outstanding again making 2 brilliant defensive blocks and his central defensive partner Ethan connolly carried some ball out of defence. Our fullbacks Noah mcloughlin and PJ slattery were up against very good clonmel players but were brilliant winning thier duels. We had chances with cormac casey , cathal and Tomas having efforts but midway through the half following another good passing move ended with a cross in the box been handled by the clonmel defender and the ref pointed to the spot. Michael noonan stepped up to slot him 1-0 to us. As the half went on we continued to grow into the game and had a couple of more chances but 1-0 at halftime.

2nd half clonmel scored 5 minutes into the half when a good ball over the top was latched onto and finished smartly 1-1. We were now in a battle , sadeu came on the left wing for us and we tried to get our passing going again but town were on top. In this period robbie mcgrath made 2 top class saves to keep us in it. Brian English and donal ryan came on and with the fresh legs we started to get a foothold again getting some passes together and cathal quinlan was making great inroads down the right but the ball wouldn't fall to us and one strike from cathal was well saved by the keeper. When it looked like a draw might be most likely a great ball down the right by clonmel found thier no 15 who dribbled and finished well. 2-1 with 7 minutes left. We pushed on to try and get the draw Charles Clarke coming on and getting on a few nice balls, sadeu had a strike from distance go wide and cathal quinlan was almost in but a great challenge to deny the striking opportunity. 2-1 at full time . The lads gave absolutely everything against the league leaders and played some nice football too, a credit to thier work in training. Plenty of candidates for man of match but cathal quinlan gets its a brilliant performance from first minute to last.

Cashel Town 2 - 2 Shanbally Utd

We played out an entertaining draw away at Cashel at the weekend. Travelling with a depleted squad we showed excellent commitment and drive in the first half to go two goals up. Bronwyn's sharp and clever finish from a corner, her first goal for the team put us one nil up. Then Isabelle cleverly knocked on Carol's pass, ran clear and calmly finished for our second. We then nearly added a third when Isabelle's shot rebounded off the post having been played in by Lexi's through ball.

Half Time 0 - 2

Cashel responded in the 2nd half and started to attack more directly and as we tired in the sun and injuries hampered us we conceded two late goals to draw the game. Cashel's excellent number 7 scoring with two headers to bring the game level. We then defended superbly in the final five minutes to ensure we secured a well-earned draw.

Overall an entertaining draw with both teams playing some excellent football.

Our U14s continued thier good form making it 3 wins from the last 4 games. The game took a few minutes to settle as both sides looked to get on top 10 minutes in and shay Stewart and Charles Clarke combined to put michael noonan through and he was unlucky to see his effort flash narrowly wide. We started to put pressure on the ballingarry defence with cathal quinlan and Sadeu on each flank getting good crosses into the box. On 15 minutes great work by Tomas hennessy put pressure on the defender and he nipped in to win the ball and calmly slot past the on rushing keeper 1-0 . Ballingarry were up for the battle and came back at us but they found robbie in goal and the back four of PJ, Ethan, Rory and Noah in fine form. On 25 minutes noah and sadeu worked really well down the left and with a switch of play cathal arrived late in the box to add our 2nd with a fine strike 2-0. Halftime 2-0 , we had to make changes with robbie coming off injured and sadeu showed what a team player he is to go in goal and had a fine 2nd half there. Donal Ryan came on up front and started created chances for tomas , cathal and michael and on 46 minutes from a cross into the box and Ballingarry player handled and michael noonan stepped up to fire into the next 3-0. A few minutes michael would make it 4 after a fine passing move he finished to the net 4-0. From there we saw the game out, our subs also brian, harry, jayden , cormac and donal all contributed to this win. This ever improving group now head to clonmel in 2 weeks in a big game in our season. See ye all there !

U14 Girls Premiership
Shanbally Utd 2-0 Cashel Town

Our U14 girls registered their first win of the season with an excellent victory against Cashel on Tuesday evening. We dominated the early exchanges and went ahead with an excellent low finish into the corner from Isabelle. Cashel grew into the game with their number 7 a constant threat. While we pushed for a second goal but could not find a way through.

Half Time: 1-0

The second half was evenly contested and Cashel started to cause problems with their pacy wingers. Our defence responded superbly with Elliemae clearing off the line and our other defenders, organised by Carol and Alisa blocking a number of shots to keep our goal intact. Our strong bench allowed us to rest some tired legs and helped maintain our lead. In the last minute Isabelle broke free on the right wing, drove towards the area and finished superbly high into the far corner to secure a well deserved victory.

Full Time: 2-0

A very entertaining and even game played in the right way. We now visit Cashel away this weekend in our final league match.

Another solid performance from this great group of girls. We traveled to Cashel in the league on a warm night and came away with a very good victory. Some terrific performances on the night.
