If tennis hurts, your preparation might be the problem.” Most social & amateur tennis injuries aren’t caused by age or “wear and tear.”
They’re caused by:
• poor load management
• weak links in the kinetic chain
• forcing power instead of transferring it
• playing hard without preparation
Tennis is athletic.
If you don’t train like an athlete, your body will remind you.

Everyone’s searching for the next big thing…
The new plan.
The new app.
The shortcut.
But most of the time, the problem isn’t the plan — it’s the lack of follow-through.
Before you jump to something shiny, ask yourself:
Have you actually given the basics a real chance?

Am I Here to Tick a Box, or Am I Here to Get Better?
It’s easy to fall into the trap of just checking the box.
“I went to the gym.” ✅
“I did my workout.” ✅
But did you train with intent? Did you walk out better than you walked in?
Going through the motions won’t get you anywhere. Progress comes from effort, focus, and a willingness to do more than the bare minimum.
Next time you step into the gym, ask yourself:
Am I just ticking a box, or am I here to get better?

The Underrated Power of Cardio for Longevity
When I add in bikes, SkiErgs, or any form of cardio into a session, I can hear the groans from around the room. I get it—lifting heavy feels more rewarding, and cardio can be uncomfortable. But here’s the truth: your heart is your most important muscle.
• Cardio isn’t just about burning calories—it’s about extending your life. Studies show that VO2 max (a measure of cardiovascular fitness) is one of the strongest predictors of longevity. The higher it is, the longer and healthier you’re likely to live.
• A stronger heart means a stronger body. Regular cardio improves circulation, lowers blood pressure, and reduces the risk of heart disease—the leading cause of death worldwide.
• Want to keep lifting heavy for decades? Do your cardio. A weak cardiovascular system limits your ability to recover and perform. Strength and endurance go hand in hand.
I always remind my clients: we are the lucky ones. The ability to push your body, to feel the discomfort, to challenge yourself—it’s a privilege. There are people in hospital beds who would give anything to be in your position, to feel their legs burn on a bike, to take deep, gasping breaths after a tough set.
Next time you groan about cardio, reframe it. You get to do this. You’re building a body that will serve you for years to come. Longevity isn’t just about being alive—it’s about truly living.
