We are very sorry to hear of the passing of Clubmember Chris Gilmartin.

Chris was a wonderful coach with our U11 team. He had a lovely way with the children, showing great patience, kindness and always making sure every child got their time and encouragement.

Our thoughts and heartfelt condolences are with Suzanne, Lucy, Levi and all the Gilmartin family at this incredibly difficult time. We are especially thinking of Levi who is a member of our U11 Boys team.

Chris will be greatly missed by everyone at Bandon AFC, and his warmth and kindness will never be forgotten.

⚽️ Bandon Juniors Kick Off Their Season ⚽️

Bandon Juniors got their season underway on Friday night with a hugely encouraging performance against Premier Division side College Corinthians.

Despite eventually losing 3–2, Bandon pushed their opponents all the way. With a penalty shootout looking increasingly likely, a late goal from College Corinthians unfortunately put an end to Bandon’s hopes of a cup shock.

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Bandon AFC has been awarded the FAIreland Club Mark One Star Award! ⭐️⚽️

The FAI Club Mark is a national accreditation programme which recognises grassroots clubs that demonstrate best practice in the way they are governed, managed and developed. The One Star Award represents an important step forward, with a particular focus on player and coach development, club structures, opportunities for young players and creating a positive environment for everyone involved in the game.

Achieving the One Star Award required a huge amount of work behind the scenes, including demonstrating appropriate policies and procedures, coach and player development structures, qualified coaching provision, codes of conduct, facilities, opportunities for girls to play football and a commitment to inclusion.

A huge thank you to all of our club officers, coaches and volunteers who have put in countless hours behind the scenes to help Bandon AFC reach this standard. 👏

While much of this work goes unseen, it is absolutely vital in ensuring that Bandon AFC continues to be a well-run, progressive and welcoming club for all our players and members.

We are incredibly proud of this achievement, but as always, we won't be standing still.

The work continues. The standards continue to rise. And we will continue striving to make Bandon AFC stronger both on and off the pitch. ⚽️
