We know everyone has missed the weekend clubhouse over the past couple of months.

So, drumroll please……. 🥁

We are delighted to welcome *Garrisson Coffee* to the Athlone GAA Clubhouse Bar & Members Lounge.

Local owners Keith, Jamie and their team will be operating from the lounge on Saturdays and Sundays, offering tea, coffee and treats in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

_Opening hours will be 9am–4pm every Saturday and Sunday._

Wishing the best of luck to Ian Bednareck from our U14 Boys who plays at half time in Croke Park in the Mayo Louth All Ireland semi-final this evening. Ian's twin sister Mia, who plays for Garrycastle GAA, will also play at half time in the All Ireland final in two weeks. Behind every player, theres a supportive family.
Congratulations to Ian and Mia's parents Jack and Magda for the support they give to the club and who will be in Croke Park on both occasions. Jack and Magda will be recognised by many as regulars in the Athlone GAA gym and on the sidelines in every game Ian and Mia play. 🩵🤍

Well done to our minor lads who made it two wins from two in the minor championship with a comfortable win over St Michaels on Thursday evening.

After a slow start the lads took control after 2 goals in quick succession from Conor Lough and Ruairi Nicholson left them 7pts to the good at half time. The lads piled on the pressure in the second half and further goals from Sean Collins (2) and James Geoghan paved the way for a good win. The full back line of Ferghal Kelly, Dan Nugent and Thomas Daly were exceptional throughout with captain Aaron Hardiman leading throughout. Well done to the numerous u16s stepping up for the evening and didnt look out of place in any way.

Next up is away trip to Kilbeggan on the 25th.

Our U14 girls continued their Division 5 Championship campaign with an excellent home win over The Downs on a glorious Thursday evening, backed by fantastic support.

Both teams produced some superb football and fine scores throughout an entertaining contest. Athlone settled quickly with early goals from Kaci Coleman and Julia Zamirowska, along with a superb long-range free from Holly McCaul, and maintained their lead despite a strong challenge from The Downs.
Tara McLoughlin and Faye Highinbotham were at the heart of many second-half attacks, while Holly McCaul and Millie Lynch both finished with an impressive 2-2 each.

Player of the Match was the tireless Eleanor Cunningham, whose relentless work rate and protection in front of the defence at centre back were outstanding.

Well done to both teams on a great game. 🩵

This would have been a huge fixture at the time and would have attracted a crowd well in excess of 10,000 people.
