A performance worthy of an actual genuflection ✝️ took place today.
Ballymore Cobh AC's Billy Ryan, a dual member also of that most excellent of clubs - Cobh Tri Club - completed his very first full Ironman.
The Ironman Italia Emilia-Romagna, aside from occuring in a beautiful location, threw a 3.8km swim, a 180km cycle and a 42.2km full distance marathon at Billy, all of which he brushed off in an inspiring time of 11 hours, 53 minutes.
Did we mention that Billy happened to break his elbow only a couple of weeks ago? No? Yes, he did indeed and still toughed the whole event out.
No wonder they call it IRONMAN 💪.

It's 5th place in 2:00.53 for Sophie O'Sullivan at the ATHLOS meeting in London to round off a phenomenal season for the Ballymore 🖤🧡 belle.

"A two lap party to celebrate the season 🎉🎉", in the words of the lady herself.

Sophie O’Sullivan was added to the 800m field last week following a major run of progress over two laps.

She broke two minutes for the first time with 1:59.65 in London on August 9th, then lowered her best to 1:58.60 in Brescia on August 30th. That moved her to second on the Irish all time list, just 0.09 seconds behind Ciara Mageean’s national record.

The Ballymore Cobh athlete followed it with 1:59.23 in Trier, giving her three consecutive races under two minutes. Her ATHLOS debut will bring another significant test, with defending champion Keely Hodgkinson among those entered in the 800m.

Our very own Sophie O'Sullivan wiill have her work cut out for her amongst a stellar field, as this exceptional young lady garners further invaluable race-day experience that will most definitely stand her in good stead as her career progresses.

Nailing the Ballymore Cobh colours to the mast in idyllic Italia, our very own Angie took on a "handy" 5k a couple of days ahead of her main event this weekend, the IRONMAN 70.3 Emilia Romagna.

This joint Ballymore Cobh AC/Cobh Tri Club lady knows no bounds and we wish her an absolute belter of a race on Sunday 🇮🇹 🖤 🧡

Also, a tip and a half of the hat to a gentleman that refuses to permit a fractured elbow put paid to his IRONMAN Emilia Romagna escapde, as the brave Billy Ryan goes full throttle this Sunday for the full Ironman distance. 💪
