“Lucky Day Trip”
Very lucky and pleasant day trip with my dive master Putu, he is very considerate and professional, with him I saw many mantas and turtles ( we even saw dolphins on the boat!) and he kept me safe from the trigger fishes lol.

A ‘Blue Project by AMD-B’ Update from Nanda, AquaMarine Diving - Bali 2026 Interns: ‘The “Checklist” Mentality of Divers’

The “checklist mentality” in diving is when the ocean starts to feel like a to-do list instead of a living world to experience. It happens when divers begin focusing more on what they have seen rather than simply enjoying the dive itself. You might hear things like, “I’ve seen manta rays, now I just need a whale shark and a turtle,” which turns marine life into something to collect rather than appreciate.
When this mindset takes over, divers can become focused on ticking off species instead of appreciating the reef as a whole ecosystem. Instead of noticing coral health, fish behaviour, or small but important creatures, their attention is drawn only to rare or well-known animals.
Even if divers do not touch or harm anything, this mindset can still have an impact. Popular animals and dive sites can become crowded, and marine life may be be disturbed more often because everyone is searching for the same “must-see” species.
The checklist mentality is not entirely negative. It can encourage learning, record-keeping, and even citizen science. The problem is when the list becomes more important than the experience.
Maybe the better question to ask after a dive is not, “What did I tick off today?” but, “What did I notice about the ocean today?” 🌊💙
