We've finally reached the last chapter of our BIM Insight Series.
Throughout this series, we've talked about Reality Capture, Point Clouds, BIM, Engineering Drawings, Clash Detection, and Digital Twins.
At first, they may seem like completely different technologies.
But they're actually parts of one connected workflow.
Everything starts by capturing reality accurately.
From there, the data becomes a point cloud, then an intelligent BIM model, then engineering drawings, clash detection, and eventually a Digital Twin that helps operate and maintain the asset throughout its lifecycle.
Every step adds value.
Every step reduces uncertainty.
Every step supports better decisions.

Project Spotlight – Episode 03: Engineering Deliverables

This is the final episode of our hydrographic survey journey at Kali Sentiong, Jakarta.
In Episode 1, we prepared everything before going to the field.
In Episode 2, our Autonomous Surface Vehicle (ASV) collected bathymetric data along the planned survey lines.
Now it's time to answer an important question:
What happens after all the data has been collected?
The answer is processing.
Every sounding point is carefully checked, corrected, validated, and transformed into a bathymetric map and a comprehensive technical report.
These aren't just colorful maps—they provide valuable information that engineers use for planning, maintenance, dredging, and infrastructure projects.
From preparation to autonomous data acquisition and finally engineering deliverables, this series shows how reliable survey workflows lead to reliable engineering decisions.

What happens after a BIM model is finished?
Many people assume the project is complete.

Preparing Before the Survey Begins
Salam Spasial,
When people see an autonomous survey boat collecting data, it often looks effortless.
But behind every successful survey is careful preparation.
Before launching the ASV at Kali Sentiong, our team spent time:
✅ Conducting a toolbox meeting
✅ Planning the survey lines
✅ Checking the onboard systems
✅ Verifying GNSS positioning
✅ Testing communication and power systems
Only after every item was confirmed did the ASV become ready for deployment.
Because good survey results don't start on the water—
they start with good preparation.

BIM Bukan Sekadar Model 3D
Salam Spasial,
Banyak orang melihat BIM hanya sebagai model 3D bangunan.
Padahal nilai sebenarnya bukan pada modelnya, melainkan pada informasi yang tersimpan di dalamnya.
Setiap objek dalam BIM dapat menyimpan data seperti:
✅ Asset ID
✅ Material
✅ Kondisi aset
✅ Jadwal perawatan
✅ Informasi teknis
✅ Riwayat inspeksi
Informasi inilah yang membantu pemilik aset, engineer, dan facility manager mengambil keputusan yang lebih baik.
Tanpa data, model hanyalah gambar.
Dengan data, BIM menjadi alat untuk mengelola aset secara lebih efektif sepanjang siklus hidupnya.
