🌛 TONIGHT AT KIDA 🌜

A new night. A new schedule. And a couple of new faces on the mat. 🥋✨

Tonight marked the debut of our new KIDA keiko schedule. From now on, we’ll be training every Wednesday night, 18.30~20.00.

And what better way to start than by welcoming two new faces? 🙌🏻

First up, Bintang.

Fresh out of high school, he’s currently looking for something positive and healthy to do with his spare time. He’s been exploring different activities at KIDA and tonight, he decided to give Aikido a try.

One class later… welcome to our Ai-KIDA squad, Bintang! 😄🥋

Then there was Diki.

He had been quietly following us on Instagram, watching our classes and getting curious about what was happening on the mat. As a high school teacher in his 40s, he was looking for an activity that could keep him moving while still being something he could approach comfortably and progressively.

Apparently, the Instagram stories did their job. 😂

Tonight, he finally stopped watching and stepped onto the mat.

Two different people. Two different stories. But the same reason brought them here...

They wanted to spend their time doing something positive, meaningful, and good for themselves.

And perhaps that's one of the beautiful things about Aikido.

You don't need to be young.
You don't need to be athletic.
You don't need any martial arts experience.

Sometimes, all you need is a little curiosity… and the courage to show up.

So, if you've been watching our stories, wondering what happens behind those dojo doors…

Maybe it's time to stop watching and come find out for yourself. 👀

Who knows? Your first keiko might be the beginning of something you didn't know you were looking for.

See you every Wednesday night at KIDA. 👋🏻🥋✨

🌛 TONIGHT AT KIDA 🌜

It was one of those quieter Tuesday nights. Everyone has their own work, errands, and things keeping them busy, but somehow, a few determined souls still found their way to the mat.

And tonight, we welcomed a new face... Hana. 🥋✨

Hana discovered our little Aikido class at KIDA through ClassPass. Well… technically, she used her mom's ClassPass account to book the class. 😄

Which led to a slightly funny introduction.

We were expecting someone named Dewi, so that's who Sensei called when she arrived. Then came the plot twist:

"Actually… that's my mom. I'm Hana." 😂

Name confusion aside, once she stepped onto the mat, Hana was all business.

For her very first Aikido class, she picked things up remarkably quickly. She listened carefully, welcomed corrections, adapted naturally to the movements, and laugh hard a lot. 😄

There were plenty of new things to process, of course, but she had something even more important: curiosity, focus, and the willingness to learn.

And that's where the journey begins.

Keep showing up, Hana. Keep asking questions. Keep learning. With consistent training, who knows where this first step might take you? We're looking forward to seeing you back on the mat. 🙌🏻

And to all the curious minds quietly watching from screens of your smartphones…

How long will you keep wondering what Aikido feels like before you experience it for yourself?

You don't have to be great to start.

You just have to start.

Just Aiki-DO IT! 🤙🏻

See you at KIDA. 👋🏻🥋✨

🌛 TONIGHT AT KIDA 🌜

Sometimes, all it takes is one Instagram post to change the course of your journey.

Tonight, we welcomed a new face to the mat, Nasarita. She arrived just as we were wrapping up our Aiki Taiso (warm-up). A little late? Maybe. But what mattered most was that she showed up. Taking that first step through the dojo door is often the hardest part, and she did exactly that.

Like many people, Nasarita had been looking for a martial art that could help her feel more confident and capable in everyday life. While browsing Instagram, she came across our dojo, got curious, and decided, "Why not give it a try?"

And we're glad she did.

For someone experiencing Aikido for the very first time, she picked things up remarkably quickly. She listened carefully, embraced every correction with an open mind, and adapted naturally to each movement. That's one of the beautiful lessons Aikido teaches us. It's not about being the strongest or the fastest. It's about learning to adapt, staying present, and moving forward one step at a time.

We hope you enjoyed your very first keiko, Nasarita. Welcome to the beginning of your Aiki journey. 🥋✨

Now, here's a question for everyone who's been watching from the sidelines...

How long will you keep wondering what Aikido feels like before you experience it for yourself?

Your story starts with a single step onto the mat.

See you at KIDA. 👋🏻🥋

⌛️ FLASHBACK FRIDAY ⌛️

Two months ago, an interesting guest stepped onto the mat at our Serenia Dojo.

His name is Revano Lie, a National Wing Chun athlete, four-time gold medalist at the World Wing Chun Tournament in Hong Kong, and a martial arts content creator.

When joined us, he came with something every martial artist should have: an open mind.

He followed everything from the beginning, warm-ups, basic movements, ukemi, partner exercises, and techniques. Like many first-time visitors, he wasn't quite sure what to expect from Aikido. But instead of judging from the outside, he chose to experience it from the inside.

And that's where the journey began.

What stood out wasn't his achievements, medals, or experience. It was his willingness to become a beginner again.

He listened.
He adapted.
He learned.

By the end of keiko, he walked off the mat with a deeper understanding of the Art of Peace and a smile that said he was glad he took the chance.

To us, that's the mark of a true martial artist.

Not someone who believes they know everything, but someone who is always willing to learn something new.

Fast forward two months later, and Revano's content is reaching more people than ever. His videos are going viral, his audience continues to grow, and he even received a VIP invitation to the premiere of The Furious.

It's a reminder that growth often starts with a simple decision:

To show up.
To try.
To take the first step.

Because you don't have to be great to start.

But you do have to start if you want to become great.

So here's a question for you:

What new journey have you been thinking about, but haven't started yet?

Maybe your first step is waiting for you on the mat.

🥋✨

Our dojo doors are always open for new members ready to learn, move, and grow as part of our Aiki family.

🌛 TONIGHT AT KIDA 🌜

Sometimes, curiosity just needs a little time.

For many moons, Dena, Angel, and Irene would walk past our Tuesday night Aikido class at KIDA. Perhaps they had seen a couple of moves and the laughters after the class. They knew the class was there.

But they had never stepped onto the mat.

Until tonight.

As long-time KIDA members, these three friends have practically grown up in the gym. They've trained, worked out, and explored countless classes together. Yet somehow, Aikido remained the one thing they had always been curious about, but never tried.

Tonight, that changed.

They wore their rashguards, stepped onto the mat, and began their very first Aikido keiko.

Thankfully, they already had experience with movement and rolling, so the falls weren't the challenge. The real challenge was learning something completely different, moving with a partner instead of against one, finding balance instead of force, and discovering the unique rhythm of Aikido.

Like every beginner, there were moments of confusion.

And like every good beginner, they kept going.

Because that's what matters most.

Not being perfect.
Not getting everything right.
Just having the courage to start.

By the end of class, there were smiles, laughs, and that familiar feeling many Aikidoka remember from their first training session:

"That was different... and I want to do it again."

Thank you, Dena, Angel, and Irene, for sharing the mat with us tonight. We hope you enjoyed your first taste of the Art of Peace, and we look forward to seeing where your Aiki journey takes you next.

And for everyone who's been watching from the sidelines, wondering what Aikido is all about...

Maybe your first class story is waiting too.

❗️ NEW WEEK, NEW TECHNIQUE ❗️

“Is Aikido actually practical?” 👀

Honestly… that depends on how you understand and apply it.

Aikido can look soft, flowing, and peaceful, but when needed, it can also become direct, fast, and effective. Sometimes the difference is simply in the mindset and timing.

You don’t always need long movements or complicated setups.
Sometimes all it takes is:

• entering at the right moment (irimi)
• creating distraction (atemi)
• and breaking balance (kuzushi)

That’s where things suddenly start to make sense.

At first, Aikido may look mysterious from the outside. But once you feel the movement and understand the body mechanics behind it… you realize it’s less about fighting strength, and more about positioning, timing, connection, and efficiency.

And maybe that’s why so many people get curious after trying it for the first time. 😄

So… are Aikido techniques practical?

There’s only one real way to find out...
Step onto the mat and experience it yourself. 🥋✨

Come train with us at KIDA.

🔅 SUNDAY FUNDAY AT SERENIA 🔅

Some people find Aikido by accident.
Some people return to it after years away.
And some have been carrying the spark quietly since childhood without even realizing it.

Yesterday at Serenia, we welcomed three new stories onto the mat.

First came . Ever since she was little, she had memories of watching her father practice Aikido at a Kobayashi Dojo. He once showed her a few techniques, and somehow those moments stayed with her through the years. Maybe that quiet memory finally called her back to the mat.

Then came . For a long time, he had admired Aikido as “the art of peace,” but life simply never gave him the opportunity to try it himself. Yet even in his 50s, his curiosity and spirit to learn were still alive. He found our Serenia dojo while searching for a place nearby… and yesterday he finally stepped onto the mat for the very first time. Sometimes, it’s never too late to start something meaningful.

And finally, Misato-san. She practiced Aikido for two years in Japan during high school, but as life moved forward. Marriage, children, moving abroad. Aikido became a distant chapter in her story. After finding our dojo through Instagram, she stayed connected with us for a while before finally making it to the mat yesterday. Maybe some journeys just take the scenic route before bringing us back home.

To Farah, Yuriadi, and Misato-san… thank you for sharing the mat and your energy with us yesterday. We hope you enjoyed the experience, and we’d love to continue supporting your Aiki journeys ahead. 🥋✨

And now the question is…

How long have you been thinking about trying Aikido, but still waiting for “the right time”?

Maybe your story starts with just one class.

Our dojo doors are always open. 🫶🏻

🌛 TONIGHT AT KIDA 🌜

Some people find Aikido by accident.
Some are invited onto the mat.
And some… somehow find their way back to it.

Tonight gave us a little bit of everything. 🥋✨

Undral brought her younger brother, Dulguun, to KIDA for the very first time. He’s currently studying in China and visiting Jakarta for a month. Before this, he had never even heard of Aikido, but thanks to a little encouragement from his sister (and maybe a bit of sibling pressure 😄), he decided to give it a try.

He arrived a little late after battling Jakarta traffic, stepped onto the mat, and immediately started adapting. Having practiced Judo before, the concepts of grabbing, throwing, and controlling movement already felt familiar to him. Different art, different rhythm… but the spirit of learning was there.

And honestly, that’s what Aikido often becomes, learning how to adapt.

We also had Bli Totok joining us again tonight. He used to train in Yogyakarta up to 5th kyu before life and work took him to different cities. But wherever he went, he always tried to keep searching for a dojo and continue the journey.

Last week, he came to JACC Kemang for a trial class.
This week, he came back as part of the family.

Welcome home, Bli Totok! 🙌🏻

One person took his very first step.
Another continued a path he never truly left.

That’s the beautiful thing about the dojo...
everyone arrives with a different story, but somehow we all meet on the same mat.

Maybe your story starts here too.
See you at KIDA! 👋🏻✨

🌛 TONIGHT AT KIDA 🌜

Some stories don’t start with experience…
they start with a little bit of courage.

Tonight, Mikha, 13 years old, stepped onto the mat for the very first time.

A couple of weeks ago, she and her mom came just to watch a class at Serenia. Quietly observing, taking it all in… and maybe wondering, “Could I do this too?”

Fast forward to tonight, she showed up, tied her belt, and stepped in.

Was she still figuring things out? Of course.
But what stood out wasn’t perfection—it was her spirit.

She stayed present.
She kept going.
She finished the class.

And that’s where every Aiki journey truly begins.

Well done, Mikha. We’re glad you found your way to the mat.

And if you’ve been watching from the side, waiting for the “right moment”…
maybe this is it.

Just step in.
We’ll take care of the rest. 🥋✨

❗️BOOK FOR TONIGHT AT KIDA❗️

How do you throw someone… without actually lifting them? 👀

For this week, we play with a classic hip throw (Koshi Nage).

It starts simple:
create a little imbalance (Kuzushi)…
move your body (Tai Sabaki)…
connect to your partner’s center…

…and somehow, they just float over your hip.

No heavy lifting.
No brute force.
Just timing, movement, and a bit of “wait… how did that happen?” 😄

That’s the fun part, what looks complicated at first slowly becomes natural once your body starts to understand.

Aikido has a way of surprising you like that.
Curious to feel it for yourself?
Come try it. Your first throw might be closer than you think. 🥋✨️
