RACEMAP has been ’s real-time tracking partner since the very beginning.

Together, we tested and developed a system that worked within the local ecosystem and launched what was probably one of the first events in Indonesia to feature this capability.

Six years down the road, RACEMAP has become a household name in Indonesia’s cycling scene, with many events now using the platform in partnership with Bentang Jelajah Nusantara, the entity behind Bentang Jawa.

For dot watchers, RACEMAP provides a way to engage with the riders as they follow the adventure of every dot.

For riders’ families, those dots are a way to follow their progress and virtually experience a small part of what their loved ones are going through on the road.

For us as organizers, it is another layer of information that helps us monitor riders’ well-being and safety, identify potential rule breaches, mitigate risks, and deploy on-the-ground resources when needed.

In short, Bentang Jawa would not be Bentang Jawa without RACEMAP.

A reflection.

Every Sunday morning, after concludes the day before, we sit down at the same long table at Hotel Blambangan.

For the first time since the five of us went our separate ways a week earlier, we are together again. Hot cups of coffee and tea in hand, recounting the stories of the days before and reflecting on everything that has happened over the past seven days.

By the time this post goes up, our race map has been viewed 2.6 million times, and our last wanderer has returned to a home away from home.

It has been a great journey, and a long, long way from where we started six years ago, when we set ourselves a simple goal: to spread the joy of unsupported long-distance cycling.

As grows larger, so does the discourse around it. From the selection process all the way until the proverbial finish gate closes. That is expected. That is normal. And we are pleased to see the conversation grow louder.

It is a sign of a community growing, emotions being invested, and ideas maturing. We would have it no other way.

We are far from perfect, and we know it. Mistakes were made. Decisions were scrutinized. And throughout it all, we are constantly reminded of how fortunate, or blessed, we are to have our close-knit Bentang Jawa family behind us: cheering, defending, supporting, motivating, educating, and generously understanding.

Yes, that means you: Bentang Jawa veterans, volunteers, dot watchers, sponsors, partners, and our own families.

To our riders, wherever your ride ended, you are our heroes.

Through your integrity, struggles, tears, and joy, you have inspired others. You have brought happiness, distraction, and, perhaps most importantly, hope to countless people. Especially at a time like this for our nation.

You have earned our utmost respect and gratitude.

Until, hopefully, next time.

The curtain has now closed.

One hundred and twenty riders finished the journey before the clock stopped, with Ahmad Fathi Junaidi as the final finisher. He completed the race just four minutes before the cut-off, defying the odds and predictions, with his family waiting and cheering nervously at the finish line.

For 6.5 days, riders traversed the southern coast of Java, climbed some of its most feared ascents, and braved the heat, rain, and cold.

As fearsome as it sounds, there is one simple truth: when cycling, life becomes a linear cycle of pedaling, eating, and resting.

It is within this monotonous cycle that the mind begins to wander through its own labyrinth. Searching, questioning, and eventually finding a little peace in the certainty of uncertainty. You learn to surrender to the mercy of nature and place your trust in the people you meet along the way.

The curtain may have closed today, but thousands of stories are still waiting to be told.

This is not yet goodbye.

Met Restu, or more fondly known as Ibon, is the female champion, finishing in 5 days, 21 hours, and 17 minutes.

Ibon first raced Bentang Jawa a few years back on an off-the-rack hybrid city bike—and somehow managed to destroy the field as she plowed her way through the course.

Now back after taking leave from her work abroad, she told us at the start that she hadn’t prepared particularly well and simply wanted to enjoy the ride.

Well, Ibon had plans. The Almighty had others.

After taking a commanding lead on Day 2, she became pretty much uncatchable. Kilometer after kilometer, the gap remained, until there was nobody left between her and the finish line.

And now, she is rightfully crowned Bentang Jawa 2026 Female Champion.

At 21:00, there are still around 20 riders fighting their way towards CP3 at Ranu Pani.

Bromo is as majestic as it is humbling. The never-ending climbs, the bone-biting cold, and the silence of the night.

Whether you are an experienced rider or a newcomer, Bromo always has something special waiting for you. You will never conquer the mountain. The best you can do is understand her will and make peace with it.

As daunting as it sounds, there is something special about climbing Bromo alone. Deep in your thoughts, consumed by your own suffering. Rarely do you make it to the top and back down without learning a thing or two about yourself. In the busy world we live in, perhaps that is a luxury in itself.

Not far from the top, tucked beneath the shadow of the ridges, CP3 and its volunteers are waiting for the riders to arrive.

The warmest place, in the coldest of times.

The first all-female pair to win a edition.

Citra Dewi Saraswati and Natasha Capirossi cross the finish line in 4 days, 16 hours, and 26 minutes.

For Citra, this is her fourth Bentang Jawa title, having previously claimed the women’s crown no fewer than three times. She is also one of only two riders to have won titles in both the solo and pairs categories.

For Tasha, this is her first title, though certainly not her first rodeo.

Much can be said about these two, but at , it was the combination of their tenacity, charm, skill, composure, and bravery that not only obliterated the field, but also stole the hearts of dot watchers along the way.

, yes. But Citra and Tasha are both the embodiment of that spirit and a source of inspiration for everyone. Women and men alike.

What a ride. What a pair.

Tonight, for the second time, the ticking clock will come to a stop.

Some riders started from the relative comfort of Pacitan, some 200 kilometers away, while many had to set off much earlier, crawling through Pracimantoro, Pacitan, and the hills of Ponorogo.

By now, every part of the body aches. Nothing feels quite right. Emotions swing up and down, and every nerve is screaming for the suffering to end.

For the pair riders, this is also a test of patience and teamwork. When things go south, it is easier to find someone to blame than to focus on finding a solution.

But riders are no ordinary people. When things get tough, they are the kind of people who push through. When things go wrong, they are the kind of people who find a way forward.

When they finally arrive to the warm welcome of Blitar’s army of volunteers, they can breathe a little easier.

Even if only for a few hours.

Because Mount Bromo is calling.

For this one, we’d like to borrow a line from Bob Dylan:

“Behind every beautiful thing, there’s been some kind of pain.”

Perhaps there is no better way to describe a journey across Java.

Beauty and pain were never far apart. And somewhere between the two, the riders found stories worth remembering.
