Floral Batik Motifs
As I’ve learned, batik is a technique, much like tattooing.
With these designs, I’m exploring how flowers can be transformed into traditional batik forms and translated into tattoo designs.
I imagine drawing these flowers with a “canting”, working within the visual of batik through lines, bold outlines, and dots, while using tattoo shading to add depth and dimension.
The four flowers featured here are some of my mother’s favorites:
Melati, Mawar, Kemuning, and Lantana.
All designs are available for tattoo. 🤘🏽

One of our designs from North Bali Flash Day,
inspired by Karang Macan found in North Bali temples.
Suksma Roxy,
all the way from Amed for being part of our North Bali Flash Day 🙏🏼

For us, North Bali ornaments have a very unique character.
They are often not symmetrical and don’t always follow a central composition.
The motifs spread naturally across the surface, like growing plants.
Their forms feel open, flowing, and organic, often described by local carvers as having a “watermelon leaf” character.
This flash collection is inspired by the unique visual language of North Bali ornaments.
All flashes will be available on 25 April during our North Bali Flash Day.
