You do not need perfect gear to join an NTHC hike.

But you do need the right basics.

This is our simple first-hike packing guide: what to bring so you are comfortable, prepared, and not silently regretting your life choices halfway up a muddy hill.

The essentials:

🩹 small personal basics

Nothing here needs to be fancy.
It just needs to work.

Save this before your first hike, send it to your friend who thinks 0.5 L water is enough, and see you outside.

After a short break caused by busy schedules, life admin, and the usual “we should really post more” situation, we wanted to reintroduce ourselves before the 2nd NTHC summer season begins.

Non-Technical Hike Club is a free Budapest-based social hiking community organized by Adam & Petra. We plan hikes around Budapest, Pest county, and occasionally a little further away — usually scenic, usually social, and sometimes a little less non-technical than the name suggests.

You don’t need to be an athlete.
You don’t need a full hiking friend group.
You just need decent shoes, water, and the willingness to spend a few hours outside with real people.
