European Deaf Youth Games 2026 – Hannover, Germany

Today marks a special day and an important milestone for EDSO, our ICSD Regional Member, with the Opening Ceremony of the European Deaf Youth Games 2026 in Hannover.

The Games will run until 22 August 2026, bringing together young deaf athletes in nine sports: 3x3 Basketball, Athletics, Badminton, Beach Volleyball, Futsal, Orienteering, Table Tennis, Tennis and Swimming.

This year, the EDYG welcomes 24 countries, 392 youth athletes and more than 248 officials – a strong demonstration of the importance and continued development of youth sport within the international deaf sports movement.

ICSD warmly congratulates EDSO and the Organising Committee of the German Deaf Sports Association (DGS) on this important achievement and for their dedicated work in organising these Games.

To all young athletes: we wish you every success in your competitions and in your pursuit of medals. Most importantly, enjoy this opportunity to meet other young deaf athletes, build friendships and share experiences across countries and cultures.

For the first time in Swedish golf history, the final round of the World Deaf Golf Championships will be broadcast live with a sign language commentator.

The live broadcast will follow the men’s and women’s finals as they play their final nine holes at Barsebäck Golf & Country Club, starting at 12:30 PM on Friday, 14 August.
