Arnel Gonce took first place in last night's photo contest, voted on by all the guests at CocoView. This lovely abstract macro shot of a hydroid polyp was the clear favorite with the crowd!

Congratulations to Erin for taking first place in the Most Improved category at last night's photo contest. Great use of manual white balances at depth!

Today we jump into maybe the toughest kind of photography: wide-angle. Yes, compact cameras can shoot decent wide-angle shots, but good strobes and wet lenses really help. Also, give your wide shots some extra elements to make more interesting photos.

Today's topic is about flash and strobe use: we're not only throwing light for color, but also shadows for texture.
