T-1 Week to the 50th Stanley International Dragon Boat Races 🚣🏼♀️
Since the 1960s, the Stanley dragon boat races have evolved from prayer rituals at the Tin Hau Temple to the grand international competition that it is at Stanley Main Beach today. The Stanley Dragon Boat Association has witnessed the evolution of this world-class sporting event from humble village traditions to become the “Cradle of Dragon Boat Athletes”.
SMUGz trains biweekly at Stanley, and we’re so excited to paddle with the world’s best in Hong Kong this year! 🦍

As we gear up for the main event next month, the always fun Stanley Warm-Up Races on Saturday saw SMUGz bring home two trophies! Second 🥈 overall in the Mixed Small Boat competition and a Gold Cup Final appearance in the Mixed Standard boats 💪

SMUGz was all smiles at the return of the one of a kind 🔋
A fun and tough day of competition in the 500m races, whilst also managing to finish 5th overall in the 1000m! We kept things cool with beers courtesy of and celebrated cruising through two insane corners at Powerplant Beach with these iconic 🚣🏼♀️

SMUGz first race of the season in sunny Sha Tau Kok found us winning Second Place overall in the Gold Cup Final🥈
Sha Tau Kok is Hong Kong’s northernmost, historically restricted border town and we kept up our winning streak for the second year in a row. This time SMUGz placed 6th out of 40+ teams in the mixed category 🚣🏼♀️
