All quiet on the SwimInAsia front for the time being (with Andrew having emigrated to UK .... oh dear!!!). But in the meantime, it's happening in SwimRun ...
... take a look (from our friends at Swim Run Asia) and sign up if you can:
Notice to the HKG population: the first organised Swimrun race will occur on November 12, 2017. It will take place in the Ma On Shan area.
It is the first races of a series of four, the others taking place at Deep Water Bay on April 22, 2018, Sai Kung on May 13, 2018 and Lantau Island on June 3, 2018.
The organiser is TERRAMAR, who is usually known for trail running races, kayak and run races and aquathlons, and becomes therefore the first official race organiser of Swimrun in HKG.
The coming Ma On Shan race will be short, 7.5km, but will respect the principle of Swimrun, with several runs and several swims, swim with shoes on, etc.
I (=Olivier Baillet) will do a introduction workshop to Swimrun on October 1 in Repulse Bay to all registered participants.
Very happy to see that our Swimrun Asia page initiative and training sessions have triggered this chain in event in HKG, and it's just the beginning!

Swim In Asia
SwimInAsia is run by people with a passion for swimming. Our goal is to complement holidays or business trips by offering guided swimming treks.
Hong Kong is rightly known for its high rise buildings, shopping, eating, nightlife and business. It is not so well known for its open water swimming. Yet few other locations can match this city for swimming convenience, setting, and safety. Its accessible coastline and outlying islands offer open water swimmers the opportunity to enjoy it all: clear warm waters, spectacular scenery, ice-age volca

Great SwimRun experience this morning, thanks everyone for taking part, it was a blast in perfect conditions. Check out SwinRun Asia for Olivier's video of our fun morning.
Quick reminder to anyone interested in joining a Swim Run tomorrow morning; meet Lawrence and I at 0800 at the RPB arches. See post below for the planned route. Just bring a swim buoy, goggles, shoes and that's about it!
Now that the SS6 is done, Lawrence and I would like to kickstart some SwimRun activity - with the full support of our friends the Oliviers from Swimrun Asia. Our playground is around the wonderful South Side of the island. The idea is to get people to discover this really fun activity of multiple swims and runs and of being self sufficient at all times. We have tried a few routes out over the past few months and found a decent one that starts and finishes in Repulse Bay. It will be about 10+k; 8k of running, and 2.5k swimming and comprising of 3 runs and 2 swims. Up for it? Read on....
So:
Sunday on 28th May @ 0800 RPB opposite the 7-11, in the usual place, we will run along the Promenade to the Yacht Club pier then jump into the channel and swim back to RPB. That's about a 1 k run and a 700m swim. From there we run and hike up past HKIS junior school towards the Twins (but not up the Twins!) and run along the water catchment path to the 'hard to find' steps to Stanley Gap road and then on downhill to Chung Hom Kok beach. That's about 5.2k. We swim from there through the Ni***es to South Bay Beach, which is about a 1.7k swim. Then run/jog 2k back to RBP in time to meet the Sunday swim group for coffee !
It's not a race this time. It's meant to get you a taste of this fast growing sport called Otillo ( island to island). So we will wait after each stage and try to be all together for this one.
By all means pair up with a buddy( a reluctant runner or reluctant swimmer, a son or daughter...) just like in the real races and you will need to swim with running shoes so try to do some research on how to get some buoyancy around the ankles. Might post a few pics of our efforts during the week...
We insist on Swim Buoys for safety and they are a hoot to run with believe me. There is drinking water at RBP, CHK and SB public fountains so no need to carry much but you can as long as you can stash it for the swims. Drag reduction is a big part of the fun and the challenge of this sport.
Check out Oliviers B and C's excellent Swimrun Asia FB page for great links and tips for this slightly loopy fun new sport.
See you at 0800 on 28th May ready to go by 0815, gear to be left on the beach as per Sunday swims.
