I don't even own a desk chair.
I usually work standing up.

But my wife was sick this week, so my normal office was out. I spent the last few days hunched over my laptop on the kitchen counter.

Cooking, cleaning, refereeing the kids, and catching work in the gaps.
By today, my back had a lot to say about it.

Here's what that reminded me: Moving well was never about discipline. I know all the right things. It's about your setup. Change the environment and even the "movement guy" stiffens up.

So I stopped trying to be perfect this week and just grabbed twenty seconds where I could.
Roll the shoulders while the kettle boils. Open the hips while the pasta cooks.

Not a routine. Just movement bolted onto things I was already doing. It's the only reason I'm not a total pretzel heading into the weekend.

If your setup got wrecked this week too, you don't need to fix everything. Pick one thing you already do every day and add ten seconds of movement to it.

That's the whole trick.

If your back is feeling tight and you want a quick reset before the weekend, grab my free mobility routine in the comments.

Happy Friday. Hope yours was a little calmer than mine!

Confession: I was so excited to show you what came in my Odd Bunch box this week that I completely forgot to mention the best part in the video! 🤦‍♀️🥦

No, I’m not sponsored. I just genuinely enjoy this service. As a busy parent, finding ways to keep fresh, healthy food in the house without the exhausting grocery store trip is a huge win for our family’s health and mobility.

Plus, getting "imperfect" produce at a cheaper price? Yes, please.

Since my brain skipped a beat in the video, here’s a little gift for you: you can get $10 off your first box. The details are in the comments.

I was thinking this morning about the difference between managing life and actually living it.

Most people in their 40s and 50s are just managing. They manage their stiff back. They manage their low energy. They manage their schedule around their limitations.

But managing is exhausting.

You do not want to just get through the week.
You want to be CAPABLE.
You want to carry the groceries, travel with your family, and play with your kids or grandkids without feeling wrecked the next day.

I am opening two spots for 1 on 1 online coaching for next month.

We will build a joint friendly routine that fits your actual life. We will not chase a 20 year old physique. We will focus on sustainable capability.

If you are tired of just managing and want to feel strong and capable again, comment CAPABLE below or send me a direct message.

I will share the details so we can see if we are a good fit.

P.S. If you want to start small on your own first, join my free 7 day mobility challenge here: https://www.stayfitanywhere.com/mobility-fb/

We tell ourselves we will start when things calm down.

We say we will prioritize our health when work slows down. We wait for the "perfect" time.

I used to tell myself that story too. I thought I had a decade left before my old routine needed to change.
Then my Achilles ruptured. My wife lost her job. The perfect plan vanished overnight.

When you reach your 40s and 50s, you start to question if the daily grind is truly meaningful. You realize that waiting is often just an accepted excuse to stay comfortable.

You do not want to just manage life. You want to be capable in it.

I recorded an honest video about this exact realization. I talk about the trap of waiting and share one simple daily habit you can start today.

What is one thing you have been putting off because you are waiting for the perfect time?

Some people call it the world's greatest stretch. I just call it the one that kept my lower back moving while we slept on a tatami floor in Japan.

It is really just a lunge and a thoracic rotation. No equipment. No gym. And if your elbow only drops a few inches, that is okay. That is the whole point. You go as far as you can today.

I put the full routine into a new video on YouTube. Link is in the first comment.

What is the one stretch you actually remember to do? Tell me below.

Happy Friday everyone.

I know I have been sharing a lot of new videos lately, so today I just wanted to check in.

The weekend is a great time to reset. You do not need a crazy, hour-long workout to feel better. Sometimes just five minutes of mindful movement changes your whole day.

If you want a simple way to wake up less stiff on Monday, I put together a free 7-Day Mobility Challenge. No pressure, no guilt. Just simple daily habits to help you move better.

I dropped the link to join in the comments below. Have a great weekend.

We sold everything and lived abroad for almost a year. Our first stop was Japan.

If you have ever traveled with kids, you know the routine. Over twenty thousand steps a day. Sleeping on a tatami mat. No gym in sight.

My hips and lower back tightened right up within the first few days.

That little Japanese house is where mobility earned its place for me. A few quiet minutes on the floor each morning is what kept me loose enough to actually enjoy the trip we had dreamed about.

I still train that way today. Not because I have to. Because I do not need to grind like I did in my twenties.
And when you age, you definitely notice the benefits.

I put the full story and the exact routine into a new video. Come hang out and do it with me. Link is in the first comment.

Has your body ever asked you to slow down on a trip? Tell me about it below.

Who else is just trying to whip up a good tasting snack while the house is chaotic? 🙋‍♂️

My daughter's singing in the background and life doesn't stop because I press the record button: you don’t need a perfect, quiet kitchen to take care of your health. You just need simple habits.

This tropical smoothie takes 2 minutes, and the secret ingredient (lime) makes it taste amazing.

If you’re dealing with stiffness or just want to move better as you get older, I put together a free 7-Day Mobility Challenge for you. No pressure, no guilt, just simple daily movement.

I've been in the fitness industry for almost 20 years.

And you know what I've learned?

I don't need to throw 15 different exercises at my body to feel like I'm doing something.

Sometimes a few simple movements that feel good are enough.

That's especially important when you've stopped exercising for a while, you're feeling stiff, or your body just doesn't move the way it used to.

The goal isn't to punish yourself into getting fit again.

It's to find movement that your body responds well to... and that you actually want to keep doing.

This is a small part of the conversation in my new YouTube episode about what happens when you start noticing your body changing.

If you've been feeling a little stiffer lately, give the full episode a watch. Details in the comments.

At some point, someone tells you:

“When you get older, everything is going to hurt.”

And maybe you start believing it.

Your back gets stiff. Your hips don't move quite the way they used to. Getting out of a chair feels a little different.

And you start wondering...

“Is this just how it is now?”

If you know me, my answer is a pretty simple no.

I'm not pretending my body feels the way it did 20 years ago. It doesn't.

But I also don't want to accept every little change as a sign that I'm falling apart.

That's what this new episode is really about.

If you've started feeling those changes yourself, I think you'll relate to this one.

Full episode is on YouTube. I'll put the link in the first comment.
