Behind every runner who crosses the finish line at TransLantau by UTMB, there are dozens of volunteers who made it possible — at checkpoints in the dark, on exposed ridgelines at dawn, cheering on exhausted runners in the final kilometres.
We're looking for volunteers for race weekend: November 13–15, 2026.
What you'll do:
✅ Man checkpoints and aid stations
✅ Support runners with food, drinks, and encouragement
✅ Help with logistics, course marking, and finish line management

It's Saturday. Your long run is calling.
Every kilometre you bank this weekend is a kilometre you'll spend on Lantau. TL100 is 104 km with 4,500 m+ of climbing, started at 19:30 and run deep into the night — so the work you do now, in the heat and on tired legs, is exactly the work that carries you to the Mui Wo finish.
A simple summer rule: make one weekend run long, one run hilly. Don't chase pace in this humidity — chase time on feet and vertical metres. Practise eating on the move. Practise the kit you'll actually carry in November.
You don't have to be fast. You have to be ready.

Photographers set 4am alarms for this light. Runners earn it. 🌅
You leave Mui Wo on Friday night and climb into the dark. Then, somewhere on the high ridges, the sky turns — a thin grey line over the South China Sea, then peach, then the whole island igniting beneath your feet. Lantau Peak catches the first sun. The reservoirs run silver. Tai O sleeps on in the mist.
You will have run all night to stand there. That is the trade. That is the race.

27 hours. 4,500m+. The cutoff isn't your friend. ⏱️
Let's talk math. 104km in 27 hours is a 15:35/km average — which sounds civilised until you remember 4,500m+ of vertical and a 19:30 start that puts the hardest climbs in the dark.
The runners who finish TL100 don't out-run the cutoff. They out-think it. Three things separate the buckle from the DNF:
1. Bank time before Tai O (km ~45). The first 45km hold the most runnable terrain. Get to the Tai O checkpoint with a 90-minute buffer or the back half will eat you.
2. Respect the Sham Wat → Ngong Ping climb at night. 800m+ of climbing back up to the Big Buddha plateau, in the dark, on tired quads. The longest section on the course. This is where races are won and lost. Power-hike with intent — don't bleed time here.
3. The final 30km are not a victory lap. The course saves a sting for the end. Eat earlier than feels reasonable. Hydrate before you're thirsty. Manage your feet at every checkpoint.
If your training week has a long back-to-back and a vert-loaded hike, you're already on the right page. If it doesn't — you have 22 weeks. Start now.

完成TL100的跑者不是跑贏關門時間,而是用腦贏。三件事決定你拿到完賽扣還是DNF:
1. 在大澳之前儲時間(約第45公里)。首45公里是賽道上最能跑的路段。到達大澳補給站時必須有90分鐘的緩衝,否則後半段會吃掉你。
2. 尊重夜間的深屈 → 昂坪爬升。在疲倦的雙腿上、在黑暗中,800米+爬升回到大佛高原。這是賽道上最長的路段。比賽的勝負就在這裡。有目的地快步行 — 不要在這裡浪費時間。
3. 最後30公里不是凱旋圈。賽道在尾段藏了一根刺。比你覺得需要的更早進食。在口渴之前補水。每個補給站都檢查你的雙腳。
如果你的訓練週包含一場長距離背靠背和一次大爬升的山行,你已經走在正軌上。如果沒有 — 還有22週。從現在開始。

Train smart for November. ☀️
Hong Kong in November is warm. The humidity lingers. And Lantau doesn't let you forget it.
Whether you're targeting the TL100, TL50, TL25 or TL15, your body needs to be ready for the conditions — not just the distance. Here's how to prepare:
🌡️ Heat acclimatisation — Train in the heat of the day at least once a week. Let your body adapt.
💧 Hydration strategy — Start hydrating the day before long efforts. Electrolytes matter as much as water.
🌅 Early morning long runs — Replicate race conditions: early starts, humid air, rising temperatures.
⏱️ Pacing in heat — Your pace in warm conditions should be slower than you think. Train for effort, not pace.
🧴 Sun protection — Arm sleeves, cap, SPF. Non-negotiable for a November race on exposed ridgelines.

The TL100 night section: what you need. 🌙
The TransLantau by UTMB TL100 starts at 19:30 on Friday November 13 — and for many runners, the first hours will be spent in the dark. Ridge running at altitude in the small hours of the morning is one of the most memorable parts of the race. It is also one that demands the right gear.
Here's your night section checklist:
→ Headlamp: minimum 300 lumens — 400+ recommended for technical terrain
→ Spare battery or backup light: mandatory kit
→ Reflective vest or strips for visibility on shared paths
→ Warm mid-layer for the exposed ridges — temperature drops fast after midnight
