It is however more spectacular to reach SoHo via the world's longest outdoor escalator. SoHo has become well known as the dining and entertainment area for the mature business person. It is also known as the area where ladies come alone or with friends to enjoy an undisturbed drink of a good glass of wine or champagne. Originally SoHo was a preserved residential area with mainly printing offices a

nd pottery shops. A few of them still remain. Actually it was a few investing Dutchmen who, together with a Nepalese man, led the start in the development of the area in '95. A number of restaurants and bars were established which are now serving authentic foods and beverages. This all in what can be described and felt as a wonderfully cosy atmosphere. In '96 they invented the name SoHo. Due to "their" success, other restaurants, bars and coffee shops moved into the area. Also antique shops and art galleries have highlighted the area. This combination, together with the mainly Chinese dwellers, has made SoHo a very attractive and pleasant area away from the hustle and bustle. The headquarters of an organization led by Sun Yat-sen that overthrew the Ching dynasty and founded the P. of China on the 10th of October 1911, was located on 15, Staunton Street in SoHo. Further along at 27 Staunton Street you can find Club 1911; the perfect place for meeting friends from both the East and West, not to mention an outstanding atmosphere. The wooden front panels, multi-coloured stained glass, black wooden ceiling lanterns, hand painted art nouveau wall lamps, the back bar cabinet etc. are typical reminders of the early twentieth century. This all enhanced by the still hand waxed floor and bar top. An other jewel in the area is the small, cosy, Nepal Restaurant, with its inviting décor and when you walk into this restaurant you will feel at once that you have been transported into an exotic Himalayan setting. From the hand-printed linen on tables to the authentic Khukuri knives wall lights which cast a warm glow on the patrons, the ambience is strictly heavenly. Just close by La Pampa and Pampas are both steak house and serves prime beef cuts that are flown in fresh from Argentina. Come and experience this irresistible taste. For our sporty fans we have reopened the Spot Bar and is now located next to La Pampa. We have kept all your favourite sports channels on our big 65" screen including your favourite draughts on tap, cider and a wide selection of bottled beers, fine wines and house cocktails.
