The Guyana Women refused to let their heads drop. After that heart‑breaking one‑point loss in the quarters, they came out with a point to prove this morning against Guatemala and they delivered a 15-11 victory.

In a grind‑it‑out affair, our women controlled the tempo from the tip‑off. The defensive intensity was there, the rotations were sharp, and most importantly, we executed when it mattered.

📊 The 15‑11 scoreline tells the story—Guyana held Guatemala to just 11 points, a testament to our half‑court defence. We forced tough shots, cleaned up the glass, and made every possession count.

Santo Domingo delivered drama, but unfortunately, the fairytale ending eluded our Lady Jags. In a defensive slugfest that came down to the wire, Guyana fell to El Salvador 15–14 in the Quarter-Finals of the CAC Games.

📊 Shooting Efficiency: Guyana actually out-shot El Salvador (0.44 vs 0.38), proving our offensive ex*****on was sharper on a per-possession basis.
🎯 From Deep: We struggled from 2-point range (1/5), and converted (9/24) 1-point shots
💪 The Silver Lining: We took care of the rock better (fewer fouls) and shot 100% from the free-throw line (3/3). In a one-point game, those little margins are everything.

During tonight’s heartbreaking loss to Haiti, our brother Akil Hughes suffered a serious throat/neck injury with 3:48 left on the clock. The game paused, the court fell silent, and all that mattered was Akil’s well-being.

He was immediately attended to by medical staff and transported to the hospital for further evaluation. As of now, we are awaiting updates and holding onto hope.

To our teammate, our warrior, you are not alone. The entire Guyana basketball family, our nation, and everyone who loves this game stands with you. We are believing for a full and speedy recovery. 🙏🏾
