El Barrio

Well, I unfortunately have some sad news. A long term member of our San Pedro expat community has passed away at his home on Tuesday morning. Ben Sterling was living in the Cleveland, Ohio area for the past 5 years or so. But, he will always be remembered as an ex-owner of El Barrio (2008 - 2011ish), a long time Alegre bartender, and of course Jimbo's housemate. Ben left San Pedro due to a serious health issue, complications of which caused him to have a stroke a year ago. He was on the mend, and doing so much better, which made his sudden heart attack and passing a shock. Ben is survived by his Mom, and his best friend since the first grade, Eric.

While we had a lot of fun yesterday, it was bitter sweet as a part of our El Barrio family says goodbye! After 7 years, Ewa is leaving us for an exciting new opportunity as the Bar Manager at Sound Garden. So, happily she wont be going very far! We wish you only the very best and hope you love your new role! Thank you for so many years of great memories! Stop by Sound Garden and support our Ewa and wish her the best of luck.

Wow! What an incredible Run! Congratulations to Spain. We had a blast hosting everyone who came to watch and celebrate the World Cup. Thank you for making El Barrio your favorite place to watch the series!

Never mind! The MEX vs. ENG game's Kickoff will be at 6pm in El Barrio. They did not elect to move the Game to Noon due to threatening weather.

The Mexico vs. England FIFA World Cup Round of 16 match was originally scheduled to kick off at 6:00 PM Central Standard Time (CST) on Sunday, July 5, 2026. FIFA was in discussions to move the kickoff time six hours earlier to 12:00 PM CST (noon) due to a heavy threat of evening thunderstorms and potential flooding at the Estadio Azteca. But due to both teams push back, the game will not be moved to an earlier time.
