💡On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, we successfully completed a training session for employees of the 𝗠𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝘀 focused on , an innovative digital platform which supports the City of Athens, Greece, in advancing , , and .
The training marked another important step in strengthening the capacity and skills of municipal staff, enabling them to fully benefit from the platform’s latest capabilities and supporting its effective adoption in everyday municipal operations and planning activities.
The was developed by the Εθνικό Μετσόβιο Πολυτεχνείο - National Technical University of Athens, INZEB, and in collaboration with the Municipality of the City of Athens, with funding from the 𝗜𝗖𝗟𝗘𝗜 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱.
The platform integrates real-time across more than 50 public buildings with tools, enabling smarter energy management and optimised energy consumption.

On Thursday, 9 July 2026, INZEB will host the second local event to present the results of the project "𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗲", taking place at the 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲, 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗸𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗲, from 𝟭𝟬:𝟬𝟬 𝘁𝗼 𝟭𝟯:𝟬𝟬.
Implemented by 𝗜𝗡𝗭𝗘𝗕 and co-funded by the 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, the project explores the lived experiences of the communities affected by the earthquake in Arkalochori, Crete (2021) and Storm Daniel in Thessaly (2023), highlighting the multiple dimensions of in the context of the increasing impacts of the extreme events in Greece.
The project aims to support improved and strengthen social through targeted policy recommendations, contributing to broader national and European climate recovery strategies.

💭 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆
Yesterday, 2 July 2026, we were very pleased to present the results of our project "𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲-𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗲" at the Town Hall of Mouzaki, Karditsa, following the field research conducted in the flood-affected areas of .
🏠 Aiming to understand the real needs, experiences and expectations of affected populations, our research highlighted the loss of home as a central factor creating destabilisation and insecurity, the impact of prolonged temporary housing on , the reshaping of priorities after , and the need for extended mental health support.
🎬 One of the most important moments was the screening of testimonies from residents of the affected areas, shedding light on the true impact that extreme weather events have on people’s daily lives.
Building on the research insights, we presented a set of policy recommendations covering the entire disaster management cycle, from and to and , with the aim of supporting fairer and more effective for protecting
households.

🗣️ The discussion explored the relationship between , and in Greece, exploring how climate impacts intersect with territorial inequalities, housing conditions, energy affordability and institutional capacity, while also reflecting on the challenges of implementing socially inclusive within the complex and evolving Greek policy environment.
The event was organised by INZEB in its capacity as the 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗲, and conducted under the Chatham House Rule, enabling an open and confidential exchange of views on climate-related challenges affecting Greek society.
