Day Three of our ongoing Voter Education Caravan was another success.
One thing about this team is their energy and resilience. Despite the high temperature, they stayed true to the mission: spreading the message, engaging women and young people to ensure their electoral participation is extended beyond the presidential election to the national assembly and local government elections.
We visited the Jarra Soma Market, the Kudang Lumoo, Brikamaba Market, and ended the day with the youth Bantaba meeting in Bansang where the Alkalo and the National Assembly both attended.
We appreciate the leadership of ActionAid International The Gambia in ensuring this project is a success, and the United Nations for the support.

UPDATE: Day Two of the Out-of-School Youth Caravan on Voter Education – Lower River Region
Today, we engaged with the youths of Lower River Region alongside local authorities, including their youth leadership and representatives from local government.
At the Bantaba Meeting held at the Soma Mini Stadium, our discussions centered on the critical role of young people in shaping democratic processes. We emphasized:
• Youth participation in electoral activities as a cornerstone of inclusive governance.
• Peace building and fostering unity to strengthen cohesive communities.
• Countering hate speech, misinformation, and disinformation that threaten social harmony.
We encouraged young people to approach the upcoming elections as a time for reflection and accountability. Importantly, we urged them to conduct proper background checks on politicians seeking leadership positions, ensuring that choices are informed and responsible.
This activity is part of our ongoing efforts to enhance youth participation and inclusion in decision making processes that affects their lives and livelihood, led by ActionAid International The Gambia through the Youth Promotion Initiative Project, funded by United Nations PBF.
