I don’t get up early because 4:30am is some magic time.
I do it because I know that once my day starts, work, clients, family and everything else starts competing for my time.
So I found a window that works.
And I protect it.
Yours might be before work. After the school run. During lunch. Late at night.
Doesn’t matter.
Find the time you can consistently keep.
Then treat it like an appointment you don’t cancel.
Because the best training time is the one you actually keep showing up for.

Most men over 40 blame their belly on getting older.
Meanwhile they’re sleeping 5 hours, stressed out of their head, barely moving outside the gym and eating portions that have slowly grown over the years.
Age matters.
But so does the environment you’ve created around your body.
And if you don’t deal with the things driving the weight gain, another aggressive diet will just have you losing the same 10kg again next year.
Fix the routine that got you there.
Then losing the belly becomes a lot easier to maintain.

The dad belly gets treated like some unavoidable part of getting older.
It isn’t.
Less movement.
Worse sleep.
More stress.
Bigger portions.
More meals out.
A few extra drinks at the weekend.
None of those decisions look disastrous on their own.
But repeat them for a few years and the result starts showing around your waist.
You don’t need to train every day or eat chicken and rice out of Tupperware for the rest of your life.
You need a structure that works around your job, your family and the fact that life is busy.

Genuine question: how many of you are ‘refeeding’ on your day off?
Because that’s not a refeed, that’s just eating more.
Explained in the video.

You can track your calories all week.
Train four times.
Get your steps in.
And still make fat loss harder than it needs to be.
Because if you’re sleeping five or six hours, working under constant pressure and trying to train like you’ve got unlimited recovery, something eventually gives.
Usually your training suffers.
Hunger goes up.
Daily movement comes down.
Weekends become harder to manage.
So you cut calories again.
Add more cardio.
And wonder why you feel even worse.
If you’re a man over 40 trying to lose fat, you need to look at more than what you eat.
Your sleep matters.
Your training volume matters.
Your recovery matters.
Your total stress load matters.
You don’t need to remove stress from your life.
Good luck with that.
You need to manage it better.

Turning 40 doesn’t suddenly destroy your metabolism.
But spending years losing muscle, moving less and doing very little resistance training will make staying lean harder.
And that’s where a lot of men get caught.
They eat less.
Add more cardio.
Lose more muscle.
Then wonder why keeping the weight off gets harder every year.
If you’re over 40, lifting weights, eating enough protein and staying active aren’t optional extras anymore.
They’re what keeps you strong, lean and capable as you get older.

If you’re over 40 and training exactly like you did 20 years ago, you’re probably making this harder than it needs to be.
You still need to lift heavy enough to keep and build muscle.
But recovery, exercise selection, training volume, sleep and nutrition need more attention now.
You don’t need a softer approach.
You need a smarter one that you can actually sustain.
