Although we are not yet affiliated with any federation or association, we have grown to become the biggest and most active club in the country. Our mission is to train, mentor, and build a brighter future for children and young athletes through discipline, respect, and martial arts.

Dear AJU,

We are honestly surprised to see this post. Maybe it is meant for the media, but some of us have lost faith in statements like this.

For years, we have raised concerns about the alleged abuse and mistreatment of children, clubs, judokas and coaches in Ghana. We called for the attention of both the AJU and IJF, yet many of us felt that our concerns were ignored and that our voices were not heard.

So, thank you for the statement, but some of us have already lost hope. It is deeply disappointing to see organisations that are supposed to protect and support judokas appearing, in our view, to remain silent when athletes and members of the judo community are crying for help.

The AJU and IJF have a responsibility to protect judokas, coaches and the development of judo—not just make statements when the situation becomes public.

Some of us are still watching, and we will continue to speak for those who feel they have no voice.

📆On Safe Sport Day 2026, the African Judo Union reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding everyone involved in our sport, particularly our children and young people, whether they participate as athletes, young coaches, referees, volunteers or officials.

🥋The values of judo teach us respect, courage, friendship and responsibility. These values must extend beyond the tatami into the way we protect and care for every member of our judo family.

🛑Safeguarding requires more than awareness. It requires strong policies, clear reporting mechanisms, responsible leadership and a culture where concerns can be raised and addressed without fear.

Across African judo, we all have a role to play.

Now you are demanding that I delete the pictures of the late Mr. Williams from our page. That will not happen. Yes I am talking to you Dodoo Elkanah

Instead, you and the Ghana Judo Federation should be ashamed of yourselves.

Were you there when Reformers Judo Club visited him, stood by him, and showed him love and support? Were you there when we sent him financial support just a few weeks before he passed away? If those moments offend you, then you should have told us not to help him in the first place.

After you and the Ghana judo federation misleading him, using him for your own interests, and making him look like the bad person, did you ever visit him when he became ill? Did you check on him or support him?

Now you want to intimidate me Alhassan Rashid ? You are wasting your time. Go and intimidate the Ghana Judo Federation if they are afraid of you. We will not erase our memories or the respect we have for Mr. Williams. His legacy and the love we showed him will remain.

It is with great sadness that we have received the news that Sensei Williams passed away three days ago and was laid to rest yesterday.

May his soul rest in perfect peace. Thank you for your dedication, service, and contribution to the judo community. Your legacy will always be remembered. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, students, and everyone whose life he touched.
