King Charles III dropped into the Roger Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy in London today… And walked away with a white belt.

The King visited as part of a royal engagement with REORG, a charity using BJJ to support military veterans, serving personnel and emergency service workers. He helped present a black belt alongside REORG founder Sam Sheriff, and was then gifted his own white belt in return.

REORG was founded by Sam Sheriff, a former Royal Marines Commando of 22 years who became the first serving BJJ black belt in the Corps. The charity helps veterans and service members transition into civilian life through jiu-jitsu training, giving them community, purpose and a place to belong.

In true royal fashion, Charles kept his shoes on, with blue disposable covers as he walked the mats, met students and watched a live demonstration.

The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation and the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation signed an agreement for the
UAE to host the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship 2026, taking place in Abu Dhabi from 1 to 9 August 2026, with athletes competing across different age categories, from kids, youth and
juniors to adults.
