Well North Yorkshire Visually Impaired Tennis Club visited Pure Padel York.
We were invited by the yeam thete for a complimentary morning of Padel, it was so much fun.
We did try using sound balls but they didn't work on the court surface so we used conventional balls. The rackets are also a big change to a normal Tennis racket and I had to adapt because the racket was attached to my right wrist so I couldn't alternate with my left.
We recovered sat down in the seating area, there is a cafe and bar on sight and a selection of snacks, by the way possibly the best coffee in York.

Wimbledon has finished but tennis in York i,s very much on the up ,so now is the time to get yourselves out and give Visually Impaired Tennis a go.
Our second summer session is on Saturday 8th August from 11 till 1 at the
University of York Sports Centre at James Way Heslington York YO10 5NA.
A two hour session is £10 and free for Under16's.
All the equipment is provided and we have a LTA qualified coach on hand to assist and keep everyone in order.

So summer is here, well nearly and the sound of strange number calling is upon us, no not bingo, Tennis!!.
So here at North Yorkshire Visually Impaired Tennis Club we are pleased to announce our Saturday sessions.
They will run from 11am until 1pm on the following dates.
Saturday 18th July
Saturday 8th August
Saturday 5th September.
The cost is £10 per session.
All the equipment is provided and we also have a qualified coach to help, encourage and inspire.
All you have to do is bring along a smile and to uave some fun. No previous Tennis experience is required, these sessions are for everyone young and older.
The venue is at the

What a great evening receiving our awards at the Yorkshire Tennis ceremony at the Mercure Tankersley Manor Hotel in conjuction with Redmayne Bentley.
North Yorkshire picked up their Championship trophy for winning the inaugural NiC Yorkshire Tennis VI doubles league.
Members of North Yorkshire Visually Impaired Tennis Club were part of this fantastic event.
A special mention goes to David and Janiece Wallace who pushed this VI doubles league tournament, and David picked up 3 awards including competion of the Year.
NYVITC would like to thank all the coaches and volunteers who have helped support us over the last year, and finally thank you totally the players who helped with this win.
We now start our defence in Hull followed by York, Leeds and the final tournament in Sheffield and if last year's final day it will be special.

Just wanted to share that the NIC Yorkshire Visually Impaired Doubles League has been selected as an LTA Award National Finalist 2026 as Competition of the Year 2026!! This national recognition is thanks to all those who have helped to make the competition a success. This is an exciting time for visually impaired tennis!!

NYVITC will be present at the Yorkshire Tennis awards to collect their medals for winning the inaugural NIC Yorkshire Visually Impaired Tennis doubles league on the 19th March.

Although this was a great achievement , we still need more visually impaired or low vision players.
You don't need to have even picked up a Tennis racket before.
So please tell friends, family, local Tennis club's to get in touch or just come along to one of the Monday sessions,at the University of York Sports Centre at Heslington, York YO10 5NA

Good afternoon and a Happy New year to all.
After a successful 2025 we now look forward to 1026.
My first ask for the year is to all the local tennis clubs in North Yorkshire, if you have any members with a low vision or sight or severley sight impaired and have previously played tennis but no longer think they can, we would welcome them to come along to our sessions.
We play at the University of York Sports Centre at Heslington York YO10 5NA.
We play on a Monday with sessions by Mysight York which run from 11.30 until 12.30.
We would welcome players if all abilities, young and old, to have some fun and join our happy club.
We are currently organising dates for the summer at the same venue to run on Saturdays from May until September.

North Yorkshire Visually Impaired Tennis Club have had a great year.
But we need more players to come, join in either for the social side, competition or just to try something different.
This is also a call out to all the tennis clubs in North Yorkshire who have Visually impaired players or know people who wish to play bur can't find a partner.
We are willing to bring VI tennis to your club for a taster session.
