A new week and a new substack article; this week Iām exploring the Pilates aesthetic, how itās changed the Pilates industry for better but mostly worse.
I know Instagram is the place to be perfect but maybe some days we can be real with each other⨠Teaching Pilates is a rewarding job but it can also be long days, early mornings and hard work.
I donāt want to put anyone off Pilates teacher training, I loved my experience! But we should be more open about how much we are actually earning teaching and how this could improve.
Most teachers want to keep learning new things every year and this costs money, many studios donāt offer paid CPD or free workshops, the cost is usually on the teacher.
Studio owners remember to thank your Pilates teacher because they show up even when their tummy hurts and they are the ones bringing in all the monayyy! A little appreciation goes a long way in this industry.ā¤ļø
Enjoy the read and let me know what you think!

Pick me. Choose me. Love me. (Meredith Grey)
I kept seeing the trend āwhy Iām not the Pilates teacher for youā so thought Iād put a positive spin on it because I want everyone to come to my classesšš
Iām weird. Iām a weirdo. But Iāll make you laugh through the hard workš There might also be some singing when the rolling starts.
Iām not perfect, you arenāt perfect, letās be not perfect together on a patch of grass this summer?ā¤ļø
Come to my class and I guarantee youāll leave feeling better than before you came. Thatās my new best quote, āleave everyone even better than you found themā š
Hopefully see you for a class in York my friends xx

Check out my new substack article of the week out now in my bio!š
This week Iām discussing the new reformer studios opening with screens. I didnāt realise how long this model had been around for in Australia!
These screens have not replaced Pilates studios, yet. But with the rise of Ai and new technology, could this be something that investors attempt in the future?
Less teachers = lower costs but it doesnāt mean a better experience. We are lonely as a society and sometimes a Pilates class is the only time a week someone will spend around other people.
Do I think these studios are the future? No. I think theyāll grow quickly in the UK and they could potentially stop the amount of studios opening at the moment.
But I donāt think you can never beat human interaction and hands on corrections!ā¼ļø
Have you tried one of these studios, what did you think?
