Dunnington Tennis Club North Yorkshire Tennis club set in the outskirts of York. We are a very successful club with excellent facilities around us in the Sports Club complex.

We are a village based tennis club with four US Open coloured tarmacadam courts. Two of which are floodlit encouraging all year round play and coaching. Our coaching is led by Mark Hamilton, a very experienced LTA level four qualified coach.

We’ve officially wrapped up the 2026 season, and what a weekend it was! 🎾

First up, a huge well done to our Men’s Team, who finished their season with a fantastic 70–38 win against Wigginton 4. A great way to finish the campaign, securing 3rd place in the table. Riccal and Wistow were just too strong for us this year, but our men can be really proud of their season. We’ve no doubt they’ll come back even stronger next year! 👏

Then it was time for our Bring & Win tournament! Despite having to delay the start thanks to the rain, we eventually got going with 8 mixed pairs, who played some really close and competitive games throughout the afternoon.
After plenty of tennis, it was Katie & Gareth who came out victorious, with Denise & Andrew taking the runners-up spot. 🏆👏 A massive well done to everyone who took part!

We then headed into the Sports Club for our End of Season Celebration, where we managed to fill the place up! Plenty of pizzas, a couple of drinks, a raffle, and a chance to look back on what has been a brilliant season for the club.

We also took the opportunity to thank all our team captains and committee members for the time and effort they’ve put in throughout the season. It really is appreciated and has played a huge part in making this such a successful year for Dunnington Tennis Club.

It was a great way to bring the season to a close, and after everything we’ve achieved this year, we’re already looking forward to getting started again! 🎾

🎾 This Week's Results – Mixed Season Complete! 🎾

What a fantastic way to finish the Mixed league season, with all three of our mixed teams ending their campaigns with plenty to celebrate!

On Tuesday, our Mixed 2nd and 3rd Teams went head-to-head in the final game of the season. It was a much closer contest this time, with the 2nd Team coming out on top 63–45. Both teams have had an outstanding season and, as a result, will both be promoted to Division 8 next season! A huge congratulations to everyone involved. 👏

We had a fantastic turnout of supporters despite the chilly evening, so a big thank you to everyone who came down and stuck around to cheer them on. It made the derby even more special! 🙏

Then on Thursday our Mixed 1st Team finished their season in style with a convincing 74–34 victory over York 3. The win saw them take 1st place back at the top of the table finishing an incredible season with just one defeat all year.🔝

Next season, they'll be playing Division 1 tennis! 🏆 A phenomenal achievement from the whole team - well done, everyone. We are incredibly proud of you! 👏

On Sunday, our Men's Team travelled to Wistow for a big game against 2nd place in the table. Unfortunately, they came up short, losing 68–40, but they've still had a great season and have one more game to play. They're currently sitting 3rd in Division 7 and will be hoping to finish the season there. 💪

This Week's Fixtures – Final Round! 🎾

We’re heading into the final round for our Mixed 1st, 2nd and 3rd Teams, and there’s plenty to play for!

On Tuesday at 6:30pm, our Mixed 2nd and 3rd Teams go head-to-head in a Dunnington derby. With both teams already guaranteed promotion after finishing 1st and 2nd in Division 9, there’s no pressure on the result - but that certainly doesn’t mean there won’t be plenty of competition! It should be an entertaining one, so don’t miss the derby!

Then on Thursday at 6:30pm, our Mixed 1st Team welcome York 3 for their final game of the season. They have already secured promotion, but the top spot is still up for grabs. A win would guarantee they finish 1st in the division, so they'll certainly appreciate plenty of support from the sidelines!

Finally, on Sunday at 10:00am, our Men's Team travel to Wistow for a big game between 3rd and 2nd in the table. This one should be a great contest as they look to finish the season strongly.

Just two games this week as we head towards the end of the season, with plenty to celebrate!

On Tuesday, our Mixed 4th Team played their final match of the season at home against Tadcaster. In a really close contest, they narrowly missed out 53–55.

A huge well done to the whole Mixed 4th Team for their effort and commitment throughout the season. They've given plenty of players the opportunity to get involved in league tennis and represented the club brilliantly. 👏

On Sunday, our Men's Team put in an excellent performance at home against David Lloyd York 4, securing a convincing 76–32 victory. A fantastic result as they continue their season with just a couple of games remaining.

Congratulations to everyone who played this week, and as always, thank you to everyone who came down to support our teams! 🙏

With the season now entering its final stages, there's still plenty of tennis to come. 🎾

🎾 End of Season Celebration – Sunday 6th September! 🎾

As our fantastic season comes to an end, we’re getting everyone together for an afternoon and evening of tennis, food and celebrations at Dunnington Tennis Club.

🎾 Bring & Win Tournament – from 1:00pm
Everyone is welcome to take part! Just bring a prize - anything from an unwanted Christmas present to chocolates, sweets, biscuits or a bottle. The winners get first pick, with the last place taking whatever is left! 😄

🎉 End of Season Celebration – from 5:00pm
Join us for pizza, salad and chips, our end-of-season awards, a raffle and plenty of time to catch up and celebrate with fellow members, family and friends.

With four of our league teams securing promotion this season, there’s plenty to celebrate! 🏆

£10 per person for the evening celebration.

If you’d like to play in the Bring & Win, please get your name to us by Friday 4th September so we can organise the pairs.

This Week's Fixtures 🎾

We're approaching the very end of the league season now, with just two matches taking place this week.

On Tuesday at 6:30pm, our Mixed 4th Team welcome Tadcaster to Dunnington for their final match of the season. After a busy campaign and some great performances throughout the year, they'll be looking to finish on a high at home. 💪

Then, on Sunday at 10:00am, our Men's Team host David Lloyd York 4. With just two matches remaining after this one, they'll be looking to make the most of their final few fixtures and finish the season strongly. 🤞

If you're free, come along and support the teams this week. We'd love to see plenty of familiar faces around the courts as we approach the end of another fantastic season. 🙏

This Week's Results 🎾

What a week for Dunnington Tennis Club! With the season reaching its final stages, there was plenty to celebrate, including three fantastic wins and some major achievements for our mixed teams.

The week started on Monday with our Mixed 3rd Team securing an excellent 62–46 away victory over Poppleton 4. This result has cemented their 2nd place in the division, meaning they are guaranteed promotion alongside our Mixed 2nd Team, regardless of the result in their final fixture against each other. A fantastic achievement from the whole team - well done! 👏

On Tuesday, our Mixed 2nd Team continued their remarkable season with another victory, beating Sutton on Derwent 3, 71–37. They remain undefeated, with just one game left to complete what has been a truly outstanding season. 🔝

Thursday saw our Mixed 1st Team return to the top of the table with a convincing 69–39 victory over York 4. With their closest rivals dropping points this week, the win puts Dunnington back in 1st place with the season heading towards its conclusion. 🔝

Our Mixed 4th Team then faced a challenging back-to-back schedule. They put in a great effort against Sutton on Derwent 4 on Thursday, narrowly missing out 52–56 in a closely fought match. 💪

Just 24 hours later, the 4th Team were back on court against Tadcaster and produced a fantastic response, securing an impressive 65–43 away victory. A brilliant effort from the team to come back and win after playing two fixtures on consecutive evenings! 👏

Congratulations to everyone who represented Dunnington this week. With the Mixed 2nd already securing promotion, Mixed 3rd now guaranteed promotion, and Mixed 1st back at the top of their division, there's plenty for the club to be proud of as we approach the end of the season. 👏👏👏

A huge thank you, as always, to everyone who came along to support the teams. Your encouragement throughout the season has been fantastic. 🙏👏

🎾 Good luck, Karen! 🎾

Our very own Karen Mitchell is taking to the courts at Wimbledon tomorrow, competing in the Women’s Over 60s Singles and Women’s Over 60s Doubles as part of the British Masters Grass Court Closed Championships.

A huge thank you to our friends at Sutton upon Derwent Tennis Club for kindly letting Karen practise on their beautiful grass courts ahead of her matches. What a fantastic opportunity and a brilliant way to prepare for Wimbledon!

This Week's Fixtures 🎾

The season is drawing to a close, with just two rounds of fixtures remaining. Promotion races are still being decided, and every match will play an important part in how the final league tables shape up.

The action gets underway on Monday at 6:30pm, when our Mixed 3rd Team travel to Poppleton 4. With promotion still firmly within their sights, they'll be looking to start the week with another important victory. 🤞

On Tuesday evening, our newly promoted Mixed 2nd Team return to home courts to face Sutton on Derwent 3. Having secured promotion with an unbeaten record, they’ll be hoping to continue their excellent season. 🔝

Thursday sees two more teams in action. Our Mixed 1st Team welcome York 4 to Dunnington and will be looking to continue their excellent campaign on home courts. At the same time, our Mixed 4th Team travel to Sutton on Derwent 4 for the first of two fixtures in just two days. 👏

The week concludes on Friday evening, when our Mixed 4th Team are back on the road to take on Tadcaster, rounding off a busy week with their second match in as many days. 🙏

As we approach the end of the season, we’d love to see plenty of support at the club on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. If you’re free, come along and cheer on our home teams—your support from the sidelines always makes a difference. 🙏

This Week's Result 🎾

What a week to round off another fantastic chapter of the season! Our teams recordedfour wins and a draw, with some outstanding performances across the club.

The week began on Monday with a remarkable achievement from our Ladies 1st Team, who travelled to Poppleton and secured a dominant 85–23 victory. That result means they have finished the season undefeated, top of Division 4, and have earned promotion to Division 3 for next season. It has been an incredible campaign, with the team setting the standard from start to finish. A huge congratulations to every player who represented the team throughout the season, you should all be immensely proud of what you've achieved. 🎉

Tuesday brought more success, with our Mixed 1st Team continuing their excellent season by recording an emphatic 77–31 away win over York 3. At the same time, our Mixed 4th Team battled hard to earn a 54–54 draw against Sutton on Derwent 4 in a closely fought contest. 👏

On Thursday, our Mixed 2nd Team continued their outstanding unbeaten season with another commanding performance, defeating Stamford Bridge 80–28 away from home. The victory also secured promotion, a well-deserved reward for an exceptional campaign. 🔝

Back at Dunnington, our Mixed 3rd Team produced another excellent display to beat Sutton on Derwent 3, 63–45. It was an important result that keeps their promotion hopes firmly alive and represents a significant step towards joining our other successful teams in moving up a division. 💪

Congratulations to everyone who represented Dunnington this week. It's fantastic to see our Ladies 1st Team crowned Division 4 champions and promoted, our Mixed 2nd Team securing promotion with an unbeaten record in Division 9, and our Mixed 3rd Team putting themselves in a strong position in the race for promotion in also Division 9. 👏

A huge thank you, as always, to everyone who came down to support the teams throughout the week. Your encouragement from the sidelines makes a real difference and creates a brilliant atmosphere around the club. 🙏

The season isn't over just yet, with a few mixed fixtures still to come, but this week has certainly given us plenty to celebrate. Congratulations once again to our Ladies 1st Team on a truly outstanding season, we can't wait to see you competing in Division 3 next year! 👏
