The Acorn Ladies are back at home this Sunday taking on Brontë Barbarians.

Acorn played their best game of the season to beat Keighley Cougars 64-0.
This performance was due after some good previous performances and today everything seemed to click into place.
Acorn scored some great team tries that have been worked on in training and were defensively strong, forcing errors from Keighley.
Bev Langan lead the scoring with four tries with brilliant strong, direct running.
Niamh Jackson scored a good hat trick, with all three tries well taken and kicked six goals for a personal haul of 24 points.
Savanna Shepherd was another with a hat trick , with good speed and strength when playing at both ho**er and full back.
Other try scorer’s and all first of the season were for Nat Brown, Kat Robert’s and Jas Harrington.
It was good to see a lot of combinations between the players take place today and everyone should be really proud with how they played.
Coaches player of the match was Sav.
Opposition player was joint between Niamh and Sav. Both more than deserved.
Lastly, a huge thank you to New Earswick for allowing us to play the game at their ground today after our pitch was unplayable. With both teams having full squads, we were keen to get the game played. It was hugely appreciated.

Today ended with a 30-4 loss away to top of the table Oldham.
However, despite travelling with low numbers, this was probably the best Acorn have played, particularly in the first half, where what has been practiced in training was taken on to the pitch.
Full credit to Oldham who took their chances at crucial times to seal the win after going behind to Niamh Jackson’s first half try.
Every player should be proud of their performance today but it was Millie Hartley at full back who took the coaches player of the match with a great attacking display, linking up well with Lily Dixon and Kai Sayles in the halves.
Kai took the opposition player of the match for yet another great all round performance and just seems to be getting better with each game she plays.
Special mentions also to Bev Langan and Cara Gavin who were also outstanding all game.
Also thank you to Yvette Shepherd who came out of retirement to help the team when in need.

Wow, what a day yesterday was at the Acorn Summer Fair! ☀️💙💛

The turnout was amazing, and we just want to say a huge thank you to our girls who gave up their time to volunteer on the bar and cake stall, helping to raise money for the team. We really appreciate every single one of you 🫶🏼

The atmosphere all day was fantastic, and it was great to see so many people coming together to support such a brilliant community event.

And of course… one of our girls even took the plunge and tackled the bungee jump! 🤪🎉

A massive congratulations to Tilly Raven on picking up today’s Player of the Match after a brilliant performance in our 12-10 win over Crosfields. 👏

Well done also to Kai, who was voted Opposition Player of the Match. A fantastic effort from both players! 💙💛
