Yesterday saw nine intrepid young anglers take part in the third and final YDAA Junior Match of 2026. James, Henley, Lewis, Will, Sonny, Florence, Henry, Sam and Alex toughed it out on a warm and breezy day on Marley’s Lake. Carp showed up in just over half the swims but everyone caught some fish. The run away winner was Lewis with 25lb 6oz of carp, with Alex on 12lb 4oz coming in second.
It has been my absolute pleasure to watch all the young anglers who have taken part in the three matches this year. The fishing hasn’t always been easy, but everyone has stuck at it with determination and good humour….congratulations to every one of them!

Yesterday saw seven young anglers, George, Will, Vinnie, Henley, Lewis, Alex and James take on Selby Canal. It was hot and bright making the fishing really tough. All credit to everyone though, they really stuck at it under difficult conditions, and they all caught some fish. Run away winner however was Henley with a fantastic 9lb bag of small skimmers and roach, with a great 4lb+ tench for Will bringing him second place. So, congratulations to all, and thanks again to the mums, dads and grand dads for all your support.
