Happy birthday to me! πŸŽ‚

Thank you to Mother Nature for delivering much needed rain 🌧 and a lovely clump of toadstools during our wander today - facilitated by the free mobility scooter hire Lotherton.

I got some very thoughtful cards and presents, a few creativity related ones that I'll be showing off this week!

In the meantime, enjoy the rain 🌧 and the fresher air to come. 😊

First trip to a restaurant since using a powerchair. Thank you restaurant in for making the experience better than I imagined.

Today, I hired from to get around the town centre. While I can get out of their powerchair, it can't be left outside like a mobility scooter. So I go where the powerchair can go. Thankfully, the York branch has a ramp and great customer training.

I'm also a gluten-free girlie, so totally recommend visiting Pho in York if your needs match mine.

The nesting magpies have moved on, and the smaller songbirds have reclaimed the morning.

This is our third year with a pair of maggies nesting at the end of the garden. They return to the same nest very early spring, rebuild, raise usually one youngster, and hang around most of the summer. They're noisy, cheeky, and mildly destructive until one day they're gone! From what I've observed they go back to hanging out in larger groups for autumn/winter roosting. We spotted a group of 9 causing chaos in the street last week!

While I've become fond of the magpie antics, it's lovely to hear the robin again this morning.

Oh hi little shield bug!

It's been a busy week or so without much time outside, so it was lovely to get a visit from this little friend on the patio door 😊

It's the weekend! Noot noot!

It's been a real mixed bag of a Friday. Headed out with my (Murray) walker at lunchtime for a nail appointment, both a treat and a necessity as my nails had started to thin and split downwards. Ouch. The lady was lovely but the chair hurt like hell and I'm still dealing with the tantrum my neck threw.

Convinced 'walking it off' might be helpful I then over did it by shuffling to a couple of nearby shops. When will I learn?

All was forgiven however when I returned to a big bowl of salad, and a drink in the fridge that I'd taken a fancy to but not tried yet.

Fingers crossed I'll be well enough for the local food market tomorrow.🀞

Wearable tech - or perv glasses as they're becoming known online...

Misuse by some is leading to a backlash against yet another device which could be life enhancing to some disabled people.

There have been a growing number of cases of men using them to secretly record women in public places before uploading to the internet for various nefarious reasons.

But on the other hand, people who are blind or partially sighted are finding the glasses give them access to social activities and tasks that would otherwise be closed to them.

So how do we protect ourselves without potentially discriminating against disabled people. How do we enable this sort of tech to become available to the people who need it, without allowing it to cause yet more social damage?

The funniest advice I've seen yet - if you think you're being recorded start singing Disney songs loudly. Then if the footage is uploaded online the biggest copyright infringement machine in the world will have the power to get it taken down. Because we all know that money speaks, huh?

I knew that memorising The Bear Necessities would come in handy one day πŸ˜†

A very chilled out visit to Aysgarth Falls yesterday made possible by Access the Dales and the onsite mobility tramper.

Every 3rd August my family and I spend the day together celebrating the anniversary of my heart transplant. This year we chose Aysgarth Falls for a potter and a picnic. It was sobering to see so little water on the falls, but still a beautiful area to spend time outdoors.

This year we marked 17 years post transplant. It feels like seconds ago, while also feeling like a lifetime. 🧑

Reality Check - it's 10.50am the following morning and I'm resting in bed with pain and fatigue with no plans to get up. Yesterday was lovely, today I pay. That's just the way the fibromyalgia cookie crumbles.
