University of York Floorball Come along to our regular training sessions on Thursday 7-9pm and Saturday 5-7pm in the York Sport Centre Arena during term time!

Our friendly club is run by students and is based on the campus of the University of York, but anyone from the age of 16 can come and play with us in our sessions! Join our group for updates on our sessions and events during the year and follow us on Instagram:

Floorball, also known as Unihocke

y, is an indoor team sport which was developed in the 1970s. It is best imagined as ice hockey but without the ice. Floorball is most popular in areas where the sport has developed the longest, such as the Czech Republic, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Switzerland. The game is played indoors on a gym floor, making it a year-round sport at the amateur and professional levels. Floorball is a fast-growing sport in the UK, with multiple leagues in operation across the country. Many university teams play floorball, and our club has participated in tournaments in Birmingham and London over the last two years.

And finally we end off our committee announcements with out President!!

Anne is a forward who joined the club at the start of the 2024/25 season and immediately made an impact by scoring on her debut against Durham. She has since been a valuable member of the squad over the years, notably filling in as a defender for the first tournament of the 2025/26 season and putting in a fantastic performance in the losers final against Durham.

We look forward to seeing how the clun grows and develops under her leadership.

We've arrived at the long awaited announcement of this seasons Captain, say hello to Drew.

As Captain, Drew will be running the training sessions to ensure they're fun and engaging. He'll also be hoping to break our curse of finishing second every yesr in the league.

Drew joined the club at the start of the 2024/25 season where he played well as a defender, but he really came alive during the 2025/26 season where he played both centre and defence netting 3 goals and 5 assists across the season.

Drew has big shoes to fill as he follows in the footsteps of great captains like Spike and Joel and we all look forward to seeing the successes he can lead the club towards.

We're starting the announcement of our signatory positions, starting with our treasurer.

Emma only joined the club in the latter end of the 2025/26 season, but instantly became an invaluable member of both the club and the new committee. She'll be looking to make her tournament debut during the 2026/27 season.

We're officially over halfway done with our committee announcement. Say hello to the second Vice Captain.

As Vice Captain and Media Sec, Freddie's job is to help training run smoothly as well as keep our social channels active and up to date.

Freddie is a defender who joined the club at the start of the 2024/25 season where he's played in every tournament barring Oswestry. He's scored 1 goal and made 2 assists over his two seasons at the club and will be looking to add to those numbers next season.

The next person of our committee is the first of our two Vice Captains!!

Tom will be working with our Captain and other Vice Captain - soon to be revealed - to make sure our trainings run smoothly and are fun for everyone.

He joined the club at yhe end of the 2024/25 season but only made his tournament debut in Oswestry, where he played in defence alongside Kate. He claims he played like Mitch Marner on the Toronto Maple Leafs so he'll be looking to harness more Vegas Knights energy for the 2026/27 season.

Introducing the second member of our 2026/27 committee!!

Kate's a defender that joined the club for the 2025/26 season where she instantly excelled becoming one of our nominations for players player of the year.

As secretary and kit officer she'll be keeping our meetings organised and on topic as well as ensuring everyone is kitted out properly.

Say hello to the first member of our 2026/27 committee!!

As both our Wellbeing Champion and Social Sec, he's here to listen if you have a problem and make sure the party runs smoothly all night long.

Charles is a defender who joined floorball two and a half years ago. He made his tournament debut in Oswestry where he showed his Viking spirit by playing on after taking an elbow to the face.

As we look forward to the 2026/27 season. We felt it was important to look back over our fantastic season this last year. We found great success in the earlier tournaments in Durham and Oswestry, finishing second in the group each time. Our greatest success came on the second day in Belfast where we made up for our bad start with a fantastic lower bracket run where we got revenge on both Belfast and the Durham Knights for beating us. While we're disappointed to fall short to London United once again, it's made us more determined than ever to do our best next season too.

With 2025/26 behind us, we now look forward to next season. So keep an eye on our page for next year's committee announcement coming soon.
