We welcome new players of all ability to the club: from established players, to league-crossovers and complete novices! UYRUFC is one of the largest and most visible clubs on campus, drawing the biggest crowds at the Roses match against lancaster. 1st XV CAPTAIN👣🐏
We are excited to share our 1st XV captain for the upcoming season as Fred Thefaut. With his notable facial feature and unwavering (unrequited) commitment, let’s hope he gains the respect of current and future teammates before losing it all on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights.

He will be aided on the pitch by VC Charles Sinclair (is that a demotion already?) as this duo look to lead the club to a league, cup and roses treble.

We wish them and the squad the best of luck for the 2026/27 season.

PRESEASON 2026 SCHEDULE
Inviting new and current York students to get involved in our weeklong preseason camp. With a good mix of on and off field activities, training and team building, what better way to start your university rugby journey.

Please do DM to get involved, we will add you to our Freshers group chat, allowing us to provide up to date information and to provide you with accommodation for the week, as well as giving you all a chance to meet new York students before you start the year.

UYRUFC PRESEASON 🐏

Preseason is the perfect opportunity for any upcoming York freshers interested in university rugby to meet the squad, get fit, and start the season right!

It takes place the week before freshers week, with accommodation provided by current clubmen.

More information will follow about what the week will involve.

CLUB CAPTAIN ⚫️🟡

To complete our 26/27 committee, Charles Sinclair is this years club captain. He is looking to drive the clubs standard higher this year. As you can see from the photo, if he treats the club the same as his rig, we’ll be in safe hands. We just hope he spends as much time sorting the ruggerz as he does sorting his hair.

The club looks forward to seeing what our club captain can make happen this year, and wish him every success.

That concludes the 26/27 committee, we’re all very excited to see what this season brings, both on and off the pitch.

PRESIDENT & VICE PRESIDENT 📣

Callum Wilson retains his club presidency this year after a very successful 25/26 campaign which we hope will continue. Cal truly puts the “pre’s” in president, as an appearance in salvos from UYRUFCs Bob Katter is extremely rare. However avoid mentioning that, as you’ll be met with “Mate, don’t say that because that irritates me” in his charming Aussie accent.

Ethan Ashton is our Vice President, looking to bring a new perspective into the clubs presidency. He’s one of our more easy to look at clubmen, greatly helped by his feminine skincare routine. The run for VP came as quite the surprise, as our biggest lightweight was thought to be destined for welfare sec.

The club has every faith that this pairing can take the club to new heights this year.

TREASURER & SECRETARIES 🏦

Louis Bircher is our 26/27 treasurer, making “responsible” financial decisions for the betterment of the club. He will hopefully bring in some new investors from his real hometown of Whoville to flush the club with some extra funds. As well as this, Louis boasts an extremely proficient c.hop. Let’s hope the club bank account isn’t drained as quickly as any bread juice in Birchers vicinity.

Kieran Gallagher and Branden Botes are our secretaries this year. They make quite an odd pair as one can never stop talking, and the other struggles to form basic sentences. However, one thing they do have in common is a great love of food. The club has faith this duo will work out for the better.
