Our Weekend Round up from the girls!

U16 Sports vs Wessex
Game Postponed

-———————————————————————

U14 Blue Cats L vs W Chew Valley

Hard day at the office for our Blue Cats. Who took a while to get in to the game and struggled against a physical Chew Valley.

That being said we win as a team and lose as a team, plenty for us to work on in training, and for us as coaches to reflect and improve on. The sign of a good team is how we bounce back.

We have to give credit to Chew Valley who played some lovely football and scored some excellent goals. Our goal came from a beautiful right footed strike by Marlie from outside the box.

Player of the match today could only go to Liv. Her work rate was absolutely unmatched, she was everywhere!! ⚽️💙

-———————————————————————

U13 Vixens 0 - 3 Paulton Rovers
County Cup

An outstanding performance from all of the girls today. They executed everything said before the game & at half time perfectly. Today’s scoreline in no way reflected our performance.

With a few changes to our usual starting 9 we were the stronger team from the off. From the start we saw instant attacks from Darcey and Philly. In which saw a great link up which resulted in a goal from Darcey- unfortunately this was called offside. The girls didn’t let this drop their heads and went again.

We saw some incredible runs from Gen and Beth on both wings today which led to some great crosses and opportunities from both of them.

Today was a very end to end game in which we saw some fantastic challenges from Liss, Sophie, Elsie and Ruby at the back.

We saw chance after chance today, of which unfortunately their goalkeeper was just on the ball a little too much.

A huge well done to Iona today who made save and save and kept us in the game massively.

Players player today has gone to Gen & Beth. Well done to both of you.

Oppositions player today was awarded to Elissia. Very well deserved.

Managers player today is one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make. In which I’ve chosen two players for their constant battle and determination. Well done Sophie, Iona & Darcey.

I could not be any prouder of the girls today. They all put a huge shift in and the effort from all of them was amazing. Well done girls.

IT ALL STARTS WITH A BALL…

Every great footballer starts somewhere.

Maybe it’s a little girl kicking a ball around the garden. Maybe it’s her first ever session where she’s nervous to walk through the gate. Maybe she doesn’t know the rules, doesn’t know anyone and isn’t sure if football is “for her”.

That’s exactly why programmes like Wildcats matter.

The FA accredited programmed, Wildcats, gives girls aged 5–10 a safe, welcoming and fun environment to discover football, make friends, build confidence and most importantly enjoy being active.

There are no expectations to be the best. No pressure to score the most goals. No need to have played before.

Just turn up, have fun, make friends and play football.

Because that first kick could become a lifelong love of the game.

That first new friend could become a teammate for years to come.

And that little bit of confidence gained on the pitch could stay with her long after the final whistle.

Girls belong in football. Girls deserve the opportunity to play. And sometimes, all they need is someone to give them that first opportunity.

So! If you’ve got a daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece or know a girl aged 5–10 who might love football…

Bring her along. Let her have a go. Let’s get more girls playing.

No match? No worries!

The Westlands Spartans U7s swapped their football boots for running shoes this morning as they headed along to the Yeovil Junior parkrun!

A brilliant morning of fun, smiles and plenty of energy, with the Spartans doing a fantastic job representing the club.

Football isn’t just about matchdays it’s about getting active, having fun, making friends and being part of the team!

Well done, Spartans!

It’s shaping up to be a BIG Saturday at Alvington!

Our U16 Sports, U14 Blue Cats and U13 Vixens will all be looking to put on a show in front of a home crowd. The girls have worked hard all week, and there’s nothing better for them than seeing plenty of familiar faces around the pitch getting behind them.

So get down to Alvington early, bring the family, bring your mates, grab a drink, enjoy Sponsors Day and get behind the girls!

Then stick around for the men’s 3pm KO and keep the atmosphere going right through the afternoon.

Make Saturday a Westland Saturday. We’ll see you at Alvington! 💙

WESTLAND SPORTS GIRLS – MATCHDAY ROUNDUP

Another weekend for our girls, with the U11 Pumas, U14 Blue Cats and U16 Sports all in action!

U11 Pumas – Away 🆚 Wellington
Pumas WIN! ✅

A fantastic performance from the Pumas, with Penny earning Player of the Match honours after showing incredible determination, desire and a never give up attitude throughout the game.

Her hard work was rewarded with a brilliant hat-trick!

What a performance, Penny!

U13 Vixens
No game this weekend.

———————————————————————

U14 Blue Cats – Away 🆚 Shepton Mallet
Blue Cats Lose 0–2 ❌

A really positive start from the Blue Cats, unfortunately conceding two early goals from corners. Those proved to be the only difference between the two teams.

The girls didn’t let their heads drop and battled brilliantly until the final whistle.

With five regular players missing, players having to step into unfamiliar positions and new players still finding their feet within the squad, the girls performed incredibly well and we couldn’t be prouder.

Most importantly, they came off the pitch smiling. And honestly, we can’t ask for much more than that!

POTM – Ash everywhere today, winning her 50/50s and putting in a brilliant work rate in the centre of the park. A thoroughly deserved Player of the Match!

———————————————————————

U16 Sports – Home 🆚 Bridport
Westland Sports Win 9–0 ✅

A perfect way to start the season!

Goals:
⚽⚽⚽ Leah
⚽⚽ Emily
⚽⚽ Mia
⚽ Izzy
⚽ Ruby

A fantastic way to open the new season! Our U16s set a high standard with a dominant nine goal display, playing football that was fluid, direct, controlled, and clinical. The goals came via a hat-trick from Leah, braces from Emily and Mia, and well-taken goals from Izzy and Ruby. Five players made proud Westland debuts, while Lacey pulled the strings in central midfield with three assists, goal of the day a towering Izzy header from Leah’s corner.

POTM - A quiet afternoon for Sophia, but she remained composed with safe hands when needed, contributed an assist with a great quick kick and kept a clean sheet. She also produced an incredible save when called upon to preserve that clean sheet.

To crown a memorable opening day, debutant Ruby deservedly walked away with Parents’ Player of the Match.

A fantastic start to the season for the U16s!

Three teams in action, plenty of positives and, most importantly, more girls getting the opportunity to play football for Westland Sports FC.

This is only the beginning. 💙⚽

💙A DAY TO REMEMBER FOR WESTLAND SPORTS FC GIRLS 💙

Today marked a huge milestone for Westland Sports FC as our girls’ teams played their first ever league fixtures since the introduction of girls’ football at the club!

Two teams, two tough games, plenty of lessons learned and the start of what we hope will be an amazing journey for girls’ football at Westland Sports FC

U11 – Westland Puma Girls
Westland Puma Girls 🆚 North Curry

A slow start allowed North Curry to get ahead, but the Pumas showed great character to fight back in the second half.

Player of the Match: Amelia, who was brought on after 15 minutes and made a huge impact with her aggressive tackling and crisp passing. Her energy helped spark the fightback and she was a thoroughly deserving Player of the Match!

U13 – Westland Sports Vixens
Westland Vixens 🆚 North Curry

Another tough opening fixture for the Vixens, but plenty of positives to take as the girls begin their league journey.

Player of the Match: Bella

The results might not have gone our way today, but today was never just about the results.

It was about seeing Westland Sports girls take to the pitch in league football for the very first time.

This is only the beginning…
