Another fantastic weekend for the club, with some outstanding individual performances across both 1st and 2nd XI! 👏💚

A quality knock from Liam, scoring 56 runs from 58 balls, including 9 fours. A composed innings🔥

⭐ Alfie Shaw – 1st XI
A fantastic spell from young Alfie, finishing with 2 wickets for 16 runs from 5 overs, including 1 maiden. 💪🔥

⭐ Dale Randall – 2nd XI
A super performance from Dale, taking 4 wickets for just 29 runs from 11 overs, including 2 maidens. 💥🎯

⭐ Rob Williams – 2nd XI
A brilliant 50 runs from Rob, helping the 2nd XI with an important contribution with the bat. 👏🏏

🏏 RESULTS 🏏

A tough weekend for the club, with both senior sides battling hard and picking up valuable points from their respective fixtures. 💚

The 1st XI missed out against Lilleshall with Chirk posting 138 all out, with Liam Walker leading the way with an excellent 56, while Harry Lunt added 16. The bowlers fought hard, with A.Shaw taking 2-16 and N.Flack 1-17, but Lilleshall reached 140-6 to secure the victory. 👏🏻

The 2nd XI produced a strong performance against Harcourt, but ultimately had to settle for a losing draw. Chirk posted 144-5, led by a superb 50 from Rob Williams and 38 from D.Randall. Randall then impressed with the ball too, taking 4-29, while G.Collins chipped in with 2-29 as Harcourt finished on 207-8. 🎯

12 points collected from the weekend, with plenty of positives to take forward and another opportunity to bounce back next week. 💪🏻

🔥 Liam Walker delivered an outstanding overall performance for the 1st XI with 45 runs with the bat and then finishing off with 5.4 overs, 2 maidens, 15 runs and 5 wickets. A superb bowling performance! 👏

⭐ Matty Lawrenson was equally impressive, taking 5 wickets from his 11 overs, including 4 maidens, while conceding just 24 runs. Outstanding figures! 🔥

🏏 Nick Flack chipped in with a valuable 60 runs, consisting of 10 4’s, anchoring the innings.

⚡️ Gary Bailey delivered a 67 run performance for the 2nd XI, helping the team cruise to a draw.

A brilliant weekend for the club, with the 1st XI securing a huge 212-run victory, while the 2nd XI battled hard to a losing draw.

The 1st XI produced an outstanding performance against Shelton. Chirk declared on 273/6, with N. Flack top-scoring with 60 and L. Walker adding 45. The bowlers then turned up the pressure, bowling Shelton out for just 61, sealing a comprehensive 212-run win, with M.Lawrenson and L.Walker taking 5 wickets a piece.

The 2nd XI faced a tough encounter against Prees. Chirk posted 228/7, led by an unbeaten G. Bailey with 67 not out, with B. Wilding contributing 38. Prees responded with 306/9, meaning the game finished as a losing draw. With the ball, G. Collins took 2/78 and A. Shaw 2/64.

A fantastic 36 points from the weekend — 25 for the 1st XI and 11 for the 2nd XI. 👏

💯 FINALS DAY

A brilliant day at Shifnal Cricket Club as our 1st XI reached the Challenge 100 final! 👏🏻

We started the day with a strong semi-final performance against Wheaton Aston, securing our place in the final and setting up a clash with Condover.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be in the final as we came up just short against Condover 😢

There’s still plenty to be proud of. Reaching Finals Day and competing for silverware is a fantastic achievement, and the boys gave everything throughout the day 💪🏼

A huge thank you to everyone who travelled to Shifnal and got behind the boys - the support throughout the day was brilliant and helped create a fantastic atmosphere… (Especially the Llanidloes Cricket Club fans) 😂

Not the ending we wanted but a great achievement to reach the final and a great day out.

Saturday was one to remember for our 1st XI.

A brilliant bowling display saw Shelton 2nd XI bowled out for just 61, with Liam Walker and Matt Lawrenson taking five wickets apiece.

A career-best return for Liam and Matt’s best figures for the 1st XI - and between them, they claimed every Shelton wicket..

Matty currently leads the way for Chirk CC with 36 wickets from 137.3 overs, including four five-wicket hauls, at an economy rate of 4.36. His best figures of 5/23 highlight a brilliant season with the ball and a huge contribution to the side.

It’s Finals Day this Sunday, and we’re heading to Shifnal Cricket Club with a place in the final up for grabs! 💚💛

After an excellent run through the competition, the lads are looking forward to the challenge as we compete against some of the strongest sides from Divisions 2–4 in this year’s Challenge 100 competition.

The winners of the first game will return later in the day to play in the final, scheduled for 4:30pm.
