Llay Welfare Juniors

It was a fun filled Sunday at Llay Welfare FC where we welcomed
FC blacon, Rhyl Hearts, St Aseph, Prestatyn, Gwersylt and Brymbo for an u6s tournament. 14 teams in total.

The MINERS battled to 2nd in their group then to narrowly miss out in the semi final, while the WELLY managed to take home the Champions Cup after a great display of football 👏

Thanks to all the clubs, players, parents and staff for supporting it. 70 children had a full mornings football and each took home a medal.

Our boy Amari got player of the tournament displaying some super skills on his way to getting his hands on the champions cup. Well done young man 🤝

Our U7s recently held an amazing Bingo Night to help raise funds towards our club Crowdfunder, and we are absolutely blown away to announce that they raised a staggering £1,886! 🖤🤍

It was a dull and rainy morning at The Welly today as our U7s welcomed Tarporley Victoria for a full morning of football. 🌧️⚽

The weather certainly didn’t dampen the spirits of our boys and girls, and watching the improvements they are all making in their games is an absolute pleasure. 🖤🤍

Across 8 games between our two teams, we only lost 2, against a very good Tarporley Victoria side, which really shows just how much progress the children are making as a team. 👏

Some of the football they played today was fantastic. The passing, movement off the ball and the desire to beat their markers and get themselves into scoring positions was unreal. There were some brilliant goals scored today, with some fantastic team play behind them. ⚽🔥

A massive well played to all our boys and girls — you should all be so proud of yourselves! 👏🖤🤍

A big thank you to Tarporley Victoria for travelling over and playing us today. All 8 games were closely contested and thoroughly enjoyable. 🤝⚽

We now look forward to welcoming Rhos Aelwyd to The Welly next Sunday for our final friendly before we kick off our first league game in two weeks! 👊⚽

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported our fundraising night for Llay Miners Welfare FC. What an incredible night and an amazing amount raised for our young players! ⚽️

We are absolutely delighted to announce that £1,866 was raised! 🙌🏼 Every single penny will go towards supporting our young boys and girls, helping them continue to grow, develop and, most importantly, fall in love with the game and their team. 🖤🤍⚽️

A massive thank you to Cloe James for organising the whole evening and putting so much time and effort into making it such a success. We honestly couldn’t have done it without you! ❤️

Sunday past saw our U5s soon to be U6s attend a very popular and well ran tournament at Pentre, Abergele.

The tournament saw our two teams only lose one match in the group stages, both ending up at the top of the group. As usual Llay Welfare attacked the group stages in formidable Welly ‘Full Tilt’ style scoring plenty of goals alongside playing some fantastic, attacking football.

One of our Llay teams progressed to the top final via a very intense semi-final penalty shootout whilst our other Llay team were narrowly knocked out, getting beat in the other top semi final. Thus meant a dramatic Llay vs Llay top final was not to be the case on the day.

After dominating their final, our Llay team finalists were sadly beaten in their top final via a sudden death penalty shootout.

Well done to Pentre on the win and hosting a great tournament.

All our boys and girls left the tournament with a medal and ice cream, leaving their coaches and families feeling very proud of their determination and football performance throughout the day.

This week we have had great fun at training all smiles are back on show as we look towards the weekend.

This coming Sunday (30th of August) we look forward to hosting our own 16 team, U6 tournament at the Welfare in preparation for the league starting.

It was a home game for our Under 7s today as they welcomed Chirk to The Welly — and what a fantastic morning it was! 👏⚽️

The boys and girls were absolutely brilliant, showing great teamwork, effort and quality throughout the game. All the hard work they’ve been putting in at training is really starting to pay off! 💪

Even more pleasing was seeing every single player get on the scoresheet today! 🙌⚽️
