A soggy one this morning at Abermorddu for our U12's as we put some extra training on for the boys before the start of the new season.

There was some good effort as the boys were put through their paces with fitness, passing, 1v1's and shooting on the agenda.

We were also treated to some 'special' dance moves as Coach Phil almost completed the splits in the middle of the pitch 😬

At the end of the session, typically as the rain died off, the boys who were present were treated to their new away kit and by their smiles... I think they are VERY happy with them!

It's been a little quiet during the pre-season with games being called off but we are still looking forward to getting back to normal when the season starts again in the next few weeks.

To try and get the rust off the boys, our U12's and U13's had a little evening friendly at Abermorddu. Both sets of teams enjoyed the run out and there were a lot of moments to enjoy throughout.

It seemed like a close game but the U13's got their win and showed the step up from non-competitive to league format is a big one.

Coach Ali of U12's said "The scoreline didn't tell the whole story. They were much bigger, stronger and used to 9v9 football. They looked massive compared to our lads 🤣

But we held our own, didn’t back out of a tackle, and deserved 3 or 4 goals overall. We played some nice football at times".

Some things to look back and work on but all-in-all it was a good time for both teams.

We are sorry to have to make this call on our last Mini Kickers of the current year 🥲. If you are in the current Year 1 age group please message if you are not in the WhatsApp group as there may be some adhoc Summer Sessions for this age group in readiness for next year.

Our U12's played their second pre-season game by hosting Brickfield Rangers at their new home at Abermorddu CP.

It was a beautiful morning for football and it became a good old slog in the hot weather. A massive shout out to both sets of players and the referee, who all did an incredible job coping with the intense heat and bone-dry conditions. Playing football in that weather is no easy feat, and every single person on that pitch gave it their all. ☀️💪

It was a brilliant, competitive game from start to finish, which had the Dragons take the lead through a lovely back post finish by Elis.

Jensen came on after the hydration break and bagged a quick second before Brickfield found the back of the net to make it 2-1.

Jac got a third for the Dragons before Brickfield again attempted a come back.

The second half was a tiring battle, but our Dragons managed to hold on by adding two more goals through Jac and Arthur ending the game 5-2.

Player of the Match went to Jensen for his impact on the game and all round effort, it was amazing to see him putting all that effort in this weather!! Well done Jensen !!

"Like the England game, we know we have another gear and can play even better football. But given the brutal conditions today, we are absolutely delighted with the effort, work rate, and the result. Very happy coaches today!"

We look forward to working on tightening things up across the pitch on Tuesday and we have a couple of weeks to put this together before our next friendly against Queens Park.

What a perfect end to the weekend as our U12's got their pre-season started with a lovely trip to what seemed like Costa Del Cefn! 😎

Under the warm morning sun, our boys enjoyed a light warm up whilst being given the instructions to "enjoy yourselves" and "let's get rid of the rust" and boy did they do that!

A great start by Hope showed how much the boys have developed over time and how strong a team they can be together. We dominated most of the play and when Cefn did get a break, it seemed to be dealt comfortably by our defence and goal keeper.

It wasn't too long before Alfie deservedly got us in the lead with our first goal of the game which was quickly followed by Arthur (x2), Taxi, Elis (x2) and Noah. At half time the coaches asked for the same again, but to be wary of complacency as we knew Cefn could come out strong.

The second half didn't seem to be underway for long before Elis got another two to enhance our lead. Jensen and Stan followed up with their goals before Elis rounded it off with his fifth giving our U12's a well earned 12-0 win.

All the coaches were happy with the whole team's performance today and not one player put a foot wrong during the entirety of the game.

This made it hard to decide POTM but we all made a collective decision and decided that one person communicated with the team really well, ran constantly, got a couple of goals and assists and led the team as their captain.... That was Arthur!!

We also got a chance to provide Stan and Luka with their presentation trophies, with Stan claiming his Coaches Player Award too!
