Worthing Golf Club

We’re incredibly proud to share that our Ladies’ Scratch Team were victorious in yesterday’s final, securing the Sussex County Division One trophy for Worthing Golf Club for the second year in a row! 🏆

The team produced a fantastic 4-1 victory at Seaford GC, with some brilliantly fought matches along the way, and a particularly memorable finish as Amelia Roberts and Sam Morfee both secured their matches on the 17th to complete the win.

A huge congratulations to Karen Sykes, Paula Carver, Delyth Roberts, Amelia Roberts and Sam Morfee on this wonderful achievement.

Team Manager Kathy Minchell also thanks Amy Davey and Emma Bullock for helping the team reach the final, Denise Moore and Lisa Allen for being willing reserves, and everyone who travelled to support the team. It was fantastic to see such a strong show of Worthing support, with a sea of blue cheering them on.💙

We couldn’t be prouder. Well done team! 🏆👏🏻

There’s a certain beauty to a downland course in a dry summer.

Our fairways have taken on golden tones, while the roughs are flourishing and the contours of the Downs feel more pronounced than ever 🌾

Behind the scenes, keeping the courses in good condition through these past few weeks has been no small task. From intensive hand watering to our ongoing intensive surfactant and penetrant programme, the Agronomy Team have worked incredibly hard to manage the effects of the dry weather while caring for the course for the long term.

For now, we’re enjoying the challenge of the firm, fast conditions and the unmistakable character of the downland 💚

The John Spendlove Trophy 🏆

Played in memory of former Club Captain, Centenary Captain and Club President John Spendlove, this year’s trophy was won by Nick Potkins with a nett score of 139.

We were delighted to welcome Carole Spendlove to present the prizes.

Congratulations also to Nigel Gifford (140 ocb) and John Cole (140 ocb), who finished as runners-up.

A wonderful way to honour John’s legacy at the Club 💙

On Sunday, we welcomed 15 teams from across the South Region to compete in our annual Cissbury Salver, bringing together some of the best players from each club.

We’re delighted to announce that Worthing A Team took the title with an impressive 149 points. Congratulations to Nigel Harrington, Ollie Beech, Gary Salt and Scott Nightingale on a superb team performance 🏆

A fantastic result for the team, and a very proud moment for the club!

Our 2026 Men’s Open saw 96 players take on both courses in pursuit of the Cissbury Trophy and Bennett Cup.

Last week, we were delighted to host the annual Senior Women’s Golf Association Jamboree, welcoming teams from Scotland, the North, Midlands and South.

A huge congratulations to Team South, who won the prestigious Miller Sterling Salver! 🏆🏌️‍♀️

We were especially proud to see three of our own members representing the South Region: Delyth Roberts, Paula Carver and Karen Sykes. Well done ladies 🩷

And, of course, an event of this scale takes a huge team effort behind the scenes. Our heartfelt thanks go to the regional organisers and team managers, our greenkeeping, clubhouse and office teams, Lady Captain Donna Prangnell, and all the supporters and volunteers who gave their time throughout the week.
