Worthing Cricket Club

As we sadly prepare to say goodbye to the 2026 season we have 3 wonderful events to celebrate all the good things that have happened.

First up this Saturday after the final league games we have the awards presentation for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th XIs where we may need some help getting through the bar stock!
Then on Sunday the 6th it’s all about the juniors. With a new expanded, exciting fun day in store from 12.30. We’d love to see everyone there to show the kids how much we value them as part of our club!
Last but by no means least on the 10th of October we will be at the wonderful Worthing Golf Club again for our annual dinner and more awards. Tickets are now available through PLAi.

Well we’re not quite sure what affect the weather may have tomorrow but we’ve got 3 league sides and 1 friendly team hoping to get some cricket in!

SJCF day 21!
We have reached the end! What a Festival it has been and we’re looking forward to the finale.
In a twist we’ve not seen before our u11s are playing Lindfield for the second time this week. The first meeting was a wonderful game and we’re sure today will be too.

SJCF day 19!
The under 11s get their first taste of away Festival cricket as they grab their passports and head over the downs to Brighton and Hove.
After sealing a win yesterday we’re sure spirits will be high in the team.

Over the course of a season many of us spend a lot of time at The Manor and it’s always great to see our teams performing well on home turf. Last Saturday was something else though so we wanted to highlight some of the best things about it!
With the 2s and 4s at home it meant we had father and son captains in Tom & Julian, which in itself is a wonderful thing to see. Both sides batting first and from early on it was clear to see the batters were doing well. On the west square Tom and Renai notched up a partnership of 173 ( 4th highest league partnership of the season) whilst on the east William and Tim scored 211 (the highest league partnership of the season) as they both scored exactly 100 runs each.
On to fielding. The 4s was a bit more straightforward, despite Julian breaking a finger!! The 2s faced a stern challenge from Chippingdale though. Enter Joseph! Taking his 2nd senior 5-for in just 7 overs he was a key part in steering the team home to victory and a big 30 points.
So, all in all a pretty spectacular day at home. 60 points, a winning end to the season for the 4s, a maiden league century for Will, a first home 5-for for Joseph and a happy Simpson household with 2 winning captains.

It’s a sad thing to write but the season is nearly over🥲
We are going to see it out with an absolute blast though!
Sunday 6th September we have our Junior Awards and Fun Day. This year it is going to be bigger and better than ever with more games, beat the goalie, golf darts, softball cricket, and more refreshments, Pimm’s, Aperol Spritz, cream teas, plus the bbq and bar as always.
We want the day to be a celebration of all the juniors have achieved this year (which is a lot!) and we would love as many people as possible to come and join us so please put the date in your diary and head down to the The Manor.

The under 11s continue today with a second home fixture as Lindfield come to visit.

Making use of the summer evening sunshine our Warriorz are en route to Bognor for another Slam game. Here’s how they line up.
