A huge THANK YOU to the wonderful team at Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre for their very kind donation of a wheelchair to the Lovejoy Centre. ππ©΅
This will be such a valuable addition to our Centre and will help us to continue supporting our service users when they need a little extra assistance with their mobility.
Acts of kindness like this really do make a difference. Rather than something useful going to waste, this wheelchair has been given a new home where it will be used, appreciated and will directly benefit the people we support.
It was lovely to meet you today and to receive the wheelchair on behalf of everyone at the Lovejoy Centre.
Thank you, Cat & Rabbit Rescue Centre, for thinking of us and for your generosity. We are truly grateful. ππ

Today has been one of those very special days when you stop, look around and realise just how much there is to be thankful for.
We had a wonderful celebration at the Lovejoy Centre today, bringing together our current service users, relatives and friends, while also lovingly remembering those who were once part of our Centre family and are sadly no longer with us.
We enjoyed a beautiful vintage afternoon tea, with the best china brought out, tables filled with lovely food, music and entertainment from Jonathan Smith, plenty of laughter and even some dancing! It was a day filled with warmth, memories, friendship and celebration.
As I sit here now, everyone has gone home and the Centre is completely quiet. I often take a few moments like this before I leave, just to decompress and reflect. Today, more than anything, I am sitting here with a heart full of gratitude.
Many years ago, the Lovejoy Centre began as a vision in my heart. The journey since then has not always been easy. There have been times of uncertainty, financial pressures and moments when I genuinely wondered how we would continue. Yet somehow, a way was always made.
Today I looked around the room and saw something far greater than a service. I saw a family and a community that has grown over the years. I saw relatives who have remained connected to us, people whose loved ones have been part of our journey, and our current service users enjoying the moment together.
There was sadness in remembering those we have lost, of course, but there was also such joy in remembering their lives and the times we shared with them. Today was about celebrating the past while cherishing those who are with us in the present.
I want to say a heartfelt thank you to every person who has been part of the Lovejoy Centre over the years β every service user and every relative who has entrusted someone they love into our care.
Thank you to our wonderful staff and volunteers, past and present, who have given their time, compassion, patience and support.
Thank you to the individuals, families, organisations and friends who have encouraged us, supported us, donated, helped, prayed and stood alongside me through the years. Some of you will probably never fully know what your kindness has meant.
And to those precious people who once sat around our tables, joined our activities, laughed with us and became part of our Lovejoy Centre family but are no longer here β you are still remembered. You still matter. You remain part of our story.
Today felt like a full-circle moment for me.
The room is quiet now, but my heart is very full.
Past remembered.
Present celebrated.
Friendships cherished.
Memories treasured.
And above everything else, I simply say:
Thank You, Lord. You have been faithful.
With a very grateful heart. β€οΈ

Lovely day spent with our John today. β€οΈ
We started our morning at the Lovejoy Centre enjoying jigsaw puzzles and plenty of reminiscence and conversation before heading out for the afternoon.
First stop was Morrisons for a very well-deserved lunch .Then it was time to get down to business as John helped me with the shopping for our special Vintage Tea Party tomorrow.
Tomorrow we will be celebrating the wonderful people who have been part of the Lovejoy Centre family over the years remembering with love those who are sadly no longer with us and celebrating those who continue to share their lives, laughter and memories with us today.
Days like today are a lovely reminder that dementia care is about so much more than providing a service. It is about companionship, purpose, inclusion, shared experiences and simply enjoying life together.
John was a brilliant shopping companion, and we're now all stocked up and ready for tomorrow! β€οΈβπ°

β€οΈ Another wonderful day at the Lovejoy Centre! β€οΈ
Today was full of laughter, friendship, conversation and plenty of activity as our lovely members enjoyed puzzles, word games, Snakes & Ladders, colouring, reminiscence, singing and lots more. π§©π¨πΆ
We also held our Dementia-Friendly Church Service, giving everyone the opportunity to come together for worship, familiar hymns, prayer and fellowship. ππ½βͺβ€οΈ
For us, dementia care is about so much more than simply filling the day. It is about connection, purpose, stimulation, choice, belonging and creating moments of joy.
And, of course, no Lovejoy Centre day would be complete without plenty of cups of tea, biscuits and good conversation! βπͺπ
Another day of precious moments and happy memories. β€οΈ

What a wonderful day weβve had at the Lovejoy Centre today! ππ»
It was another fun-filled, positive and very busy day with plenty of laughter, conversation and lovely memories being made together.
We enjoyed puzzles, quizzes, musical bingo, brain aerobics, colouring and creative activities, including some fabulous ladybird artwork! ππ¨ There was lots of concentration around the tables, but plenty of smiles too!
We also had a birthday to celebrate today β Happy Birthday to Delia! ππ Of course, no birthday celebration would be complete without some cake!
We were also delighted to welcome Susan, the newest member of our group. It was lovely having her with us and we hope she will enjoy many more happy days at the Centre. π
One particularly precious moment today was seeing the sheer delight over a Poldark colouring book. It was so loved that it even received a kiss when it was handed over! π₯Ήβ€οΈ It really is the little things that can bring the biggest smiles.
Days like today remind us that meaningful activity isn't simply about keeping busy. It's about engagement, stimulation, friendship, achievement, laughter, belonging and making memories together.
A thoroughly enjoyable day from beginning to end and judging by these photographs, I think the smiles say it all! π

Today our Lovejoy Centre group enjoyed a fantastic trip to Huxley's Birds of Prey Centre, and what a lovely day it was!
The weather was perfect, the countryside drive was beautiful and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We watched some incredible flying displays, learnt about a wide variety of magnificent birds of prey and even had opportunities to get a little closer to some of these amazing creatures.
For one of our lovely members, John, who has a real passion for birds, today was especially meaningful. Seeing his excitement and enthusiasm reminded us why these outings are so important.
There was plenty of laughter, conversation, fresh air, delicious refreshments and, most importantly, precious moments shared together. Even our staff commented on what a lovely day it had been.
At the Lovejoy Centre we believe dementia should never stop someone from continuing to experience joy, wonder and new adventures. Days like today create memories, stimulate conversation, encourage social interaction and simply bring smiles to so many faces.
A huge thank you to everyone at Huxley's for making us feel so welcome.
Until our next adventure! π
